Default A bug in the navigation system

There appears to be an issue which I am trying to get to the bottom of.

The navigation system has a setup menu option Voice Guidance in all modes. Whether you turn it off or on the lady still continues to speak the guidance every time you plot a new course.

You have to keep turning down the volume to Off.

I spoke to Lexus (through Lexus Link :-)) and they were supposed to call me back ... hehe they just called me.

I'll let you know what happens.

I wasn't referring to voice activation, I meant voice guidance.

But to answer your question, there is a button on the steering wheel. Press it and then say the command you wish to give the system

The commands are on page 161 (I think) of the Navigation Manual.

How smooth is the voice guidance? Does it readily accept commands? Do you have to repeat commands? Is it easy to use or is it a useless feature?

It's important to define the differences here.

Voice Guidance (has been out for several years)
Is typically a woman sometimes a man voice giving commands of what the next turn is to take.

Voice Command (New with Lexus possible 2-3 years in the industry)
Allows you to give commands to the system.

It works nice, but it is a bit slow. You have to press a button, then you speak and then a few seconds later it performs the command. I wish they would extend it to other areas like climate control where you want to raise the temperature.

Default There appear to be Two Bugs in the NAV system

Firstly regardless if you turn Voice Guide (Lady speaking) to Off under Voice Guide in all modes, she still continues to yap it up.

Second up is none of the route type settings and volume settings seem to hold their default.

I spoke with Lexus directly and they wanted me to bring it to the dealer to confirm it against another GX. Sure enough they are also having the issue.

The service department said they would research it with Lexus and get back to me.
