New to the group. Question about Dome light fuse
Hello,
I bought my first Lexus, great car. 2003 GX470 with 106k. I have had one problem with the fuse for the dome light. This issue has been on going since I bought the vehicle a couple months back and I can usually fix the problem by just replacing the fuse. Now when I try to replace the fuse, the fuse sparks and blows before I can even put it into the slot. Obviously there is something going on here that won't allow the fuse to be inserted before blowing.
Any suggestions on how to rectify this issue?
Thanks in advance. Now that I have this Lexus I am looking at the GS350 AWD, great cars.

First, buy a 5-pack of 10 amp fuses!
All of the interior lights are powered from the same 10 amp fuse. Try turning off ALL the interior light switches and insert a new fuse. If the fuse doesn't blow, the problem is in one of those light circuits that you turned off. If it does blow, it is one of the OTHER light circuits. Try a new fuse with all the doors closed. If the fuse still blows, the problem could be a pinched wire somewhere in the car.
If you or the the previous owner replaced any of the interior standard bulbs with LED's - that could be the problem. The LED's are larger than the standard bulbs, so it's easy to short the LED to ground when installed in the light housing. An LED may have popped loose or shifted, causing a short. To check, remove the light covers and look REAL CLOSE at each LED.
If all else fails - I'm not sure, but I think the running board lights are also on the dome light fuse.
If you still can't find the problem, you'll need a test meter and the wiring diagrams.
HAPPY HUNTING!!!
