Mileage and How Long You Anticipate to Keep
It a 2006 with 95,800. Love it. Has some wear but runs great.
I skipped the big 90,000 service because I didn't want to pay that amount. But since I anticipate keeping a bit longer, I went ahead and dropped it off this morning for the timing belt, etc. yeah. I should do it myself but don't have the time.
My wife asked me if we intended to keep it another 5 years and I would like to. (Not fond of car payments). Was also thinking to give it to our son when he turns 16 in 3 years. Wife thinks it is too big of an engine and vehicle for first time driver. I like the size for safety.
Anyway what do you all have or anticipate on your GX?
In 5 years it will be 13 years old with 140,000 on it (I estimate)
Thanks

The timing belt service was $750
The other services, essentially all fluids and filters (oil, transmission, transfer cases, radiator, brakes, etc) was $600
I did have a 16% discount coupon from them. So by the end of the day it should be around $1,200 after taxes and disposal fees.

We'll probably keep ours until around 150k miles, so another 3-4 years. We currently have 100k on it now. I think it can easily go beyond that, but my guess is my wife will just want a different car at some point. I'm surprised she was willing to keep it this long.
No question financially it makes sense to hold on to it, especially after getting major service out of the way. The sales tax on a new car will be far more than we'll spend on maintenance for this one over the next several years. Plus insurance and registration tags are a lot cheaper, etc.

My parents gave me a car with the most sheet metal they could find (1975 Chevrolet Impala). In return for running errands for them with it, they would fill up the tank once a month. It was usually on fumes as I pulled up to the station.

Second owner, just got my 08 with 63k miles last month. Will probably keep it for 7-10 years, or 200k miles. I'm not fond of car payments as well. Sold my 95 SC400 before getting this, and it had 212k miles and was running very well despite it's age and mileage. New owner even drove it all the way from San Diego to Phoenix Arizona. So I know this'll last too. Might even consider building it as an off-road truck when I buy another SUV for daily.

They had it a day and a half. Replaced all fluids and filters. Changed out belt. The rep called and said they didn't need to change water pump but when I went to pick it up he told me the tech did see some seepage. So they changed that at no charge since he told me wrong. Nice to see a $97 credit on bill.
All said and done the damage was $1,210. That included the mentioned credit, a $10 oil change rebate, and 16% discount postcard I got in the mail.
Can't complain. Our dealer here is pretty good to work with. The service rep also apologized for giving me a RX to drive instead of a GX.

'08 with 44K. We ordered a 2015 Mercedes GL350 that I decided not to take possession of. The GX (used) is the replacement as it meets 90% of my criteria for 30% of what the GL was going to cost. I still love the GL but we'll probably wait until the next generation comes our and trade the GX in on that.
Unless they finally sell the diesel Land Cruiser in the US. Then I'm buying one of those.

2004 GX470 with 142,000 miles on it. Had the timing belt done at around 117,000 and teh CV boots just the other day. Will probably keep it anothe 5 years which will put us around 200,000. The paint on our hood was shot which we just had painted this summer. Other than the rims, the truck looks and runs great.

I hope to keep it another 3-4 years. Got some flaking clearcoat on the rear bumper (appears to be a respray), and some badly faded paint on one of the wheel well arches. So a trip to a body shop might be in order.
