Default Brake Master Cylinder Leak

Just purchased a 2003 GX470 with 160k and after the low brake fluid light came on I noticed the master cylinder had a leak. After removing the cover it appears the fluid has leaked for quite some time as the paint has started pealing from the frame. The brakes however appear to be working correctly. Upon purchase the front calipers were seized and I replaced both front calipers.

After having someone depress the brake pedal while I watched, the fluid leaks from the end of the master cylinder each time pedal is pressed in.

After doing some research it appears there is a rebuild kit for the master cylinder. Has anyone had a similar leak and corrected the problem with the rebuild kit?

The rebuilt kit is worth a shot seeing how a new BMC is about 2k.

That's a very complex master cylinder. The rebuild kit 04493-60350 is about $65 over the counter at a Toyota dealer.

I think I have a similar problem on a 2002 gs300, I hear the booster pressurize, then it sounds like a dolphin. This happens about every 2-3 minutes while driving. Not necessary to even touch the brakes. I'm guessing a pressure leak, any ideas. Might a rebuild help?

Hey gregdenney,
What did you end up doing to resolve the brake fluid leak at the end of the master cylinder?
I have the same problem and would appreciate knowing a solution.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
