Roof basket/platform directly mount to the roof..??
From pedestrian experience we all know Air turbulence is a pain and is also Loud, from geeking out we also know it diminish fuel efficiency, performance and all that fun stuff.
Basically I wonder if is a none "mul·ti·mil·lion·aire" version of this rack/plaftform/basket and if is not I can fabricated it my self, is not that hard
Yakima and Thule had newer direct mounts but sincerely they prices are a joke, a five feet long simple extrusion for $100 come on, but more than anything the loads are to focalize and may bow/warp the roof.
This is a great example Fully Modified GX all DYI
In short I want to keep my basket/platform as close to the ceiling of the GX as possible (about 1- 1 1/4" taking in consideration load deflection)
Any elegent/clever solutions..??

I got ten 10' lengths of 80/20 "Erector set" extrusion 1 1/2" x 3" to make my own platform, great product, very customizable, practical, modular.
Maybe it will be overbuild as a platform but I was worried about the small focal load points where the OEM rack mounts too, at least with a rigid platform the loads will be spread more evenly over the roof.
Will post pictures of the progress..
