GX470 ac compressor cycling on and off quickly
I had my ac evac and recharged the other day. Then the a/c stopped blowing cold after I left shop. I took back to shop and they said my condenser fan was not spinning all the time when ac was on. I bought new condenser fan and just replaced. The fan only spins when ac compressor kicks on, so guessing first of all I did not need condenser fan at all.
But I noticed ac compressor kicks on only for a few seconds and kicks back off, over and over again, and I only get cold air in truck when it kicks on, then hot air.
I am guessing the freon is either low or high and they did not put in right amount?

Should condensor fan should only run when compressor runs? That is what its doing. I dont think that fan was bad to begin with.
I am also hearing a screech noise now from compressor when I rev rpms up trying to get it to engage, so its locking up now also. I wonder if this is all related to low or high charge or I now have compressor going bad?
I put gauge on low side and its reading too low, so figuring it needs more freon and this is what is causing it to cycle on and off but would that also cause compressor to lock up and screech?

Are you sure its the compressor making noise? It could be the idler or tensioner bearings, instead. I'd take it back to the shop and have them put the gauges on it again.
My my condensor fan only kicks on when it gets hot enough outside, not when ever the ac is switched on.

Yes it was working and no issues. Glad to know condenser fan does not stay on entire time when a/c compressor on. Oh well I guess I have a new condenser fan! My condenser fan seems to come on only when compressor is on, but since its cycling on and off so fast the fan kicks on and off as well.
I think its low freon.
