Default Rain Sensor and Windshield Install

Hey all,

I had a question in regards to the rain sensor on my GX. Had the windshield replaced due to a crack. The previous installer super glued the sensor to the window rather than using the adhesive pad. The bottom portion of the sensor broke and came out (see the picture below to see what I am referring to). Can just this piece be replaced? Or do I have to replace the whole sensor?

What year model GX do you have? I wasn't aware that GX 470's has a rain sensor. The previous owner may have done an aftermarket install for that.

It's a 2008. Sorry, need to update my signature.

Definitely OEM. The stalk has auto labeled on it and the part number on the sensor returns a toyota part.

It might be on the newer years - I have one on my 2004. And it works most of the time (when it doesn't, it falls back into "interval wiper" mode)

they sell the tape for it separately so I think you can reuse the sensor. It's definitely worth a shot. Part Number: 8994450010 let us know what happens, I may need a windshield replacement soon. Mine appears to have a bunch of small chips in it. I just noticed the other day.

The adhesive should be replaced when windshield get replaced...it's part of the "sensor" system, wrinkles or distortion interfere with the sensor...that being said, I disconnected my sensor and just use intermittent function. I have aquapel on the glass so rain just blows off at highway speeds.
