Can a rearview camera on a Mark Levinson equipped 2004 GX470 be upgraded to a higher resolution camera? Is it just the camera or the screen as well?

So my camera went a few months ago and I contacted Lexus Customer Support because there was a TSB out on the 2004 models with the backup camera and they are helping me financially with the replacement. I talked to my dealer here in MD and a stereo shop I have used in teh area and according to lexus the 2nd gen camera's will not work on the first gen because of the connectors are different but my stereo shop said that new camera with better resolution can be installed on my car but needs an adapter to work with my ML NAV system. Camera is $300-400 then adapter is another $400. I decided to go with the OEM replacement since it will be cheaper with the financial assistance from Lexus.
