Default Replace stock shocks all around

I have a new to me 2006 gx470 and would like to replace all 4 shocks while keeping the ride height bags on the rear. Little to moderate off-road, mostly on highway infrequently pulling a light trailer. Can anyone recommend reasonable cost shocks and where to get them? Please be specific.

Dan, You might have better answers over on Ih8mud or GXOR. This is a great site with very knowledgable people. There is more information, about what you are doing, on the mentioned sites.

Chip H.
I have done several searches on this site and on FB with no luck. Thought by now someone on this forum would have shouted out a definitive answer, rather disappointed
in the users.

Dont be disappointed in the users here... generally GX owners here are not enthusiast like the other sub categories on this forum. If anything be disappointed in yourself for not doing a simple search about OEM/Aftermarket shock replacement recommendations

Bilstein 5100 has been referenced multiple times when i did a "Shock" search on the GX470 section.

Hell, go on Rockauto and search under the the GX470 to get a reference on what you can use. It appears that you probably dont know that the 120 chassis share the "Same" suspension components BUT... you can search up the similar year 4runner v8 or FJ cruiser or land cruiser and use there components as well.

That being said you can search on 4runner forums, FJ cruiser forums, Land Cruiser forums, Clublexus, ih8Mud, GXOR, for shock recommendations. Better yet! join those forums and post up a similar thread like this and get flamed on ten fold!

But really though its a shame this forum is a bit "dead" compared to the other 4x4 forums regarding this chassis. :/ Not being an **** but yea just saying.

you can buy a 4 piece set of Bilstein shocks for front and rear from Amazon. You will lose the comfort/sport settings unless you buy “electronic” dampening shocks which are very expensive. Here’s a link:
