Default DIY glove box removal video and AC blend door (mode) motor replacement

Just in case y’alls blend door ever stops working I took a chance on this motor from rock auto and it works great. Symptoms: a/c mode will stop working (I.e. stuck on floor air + vent). Remove glove box and snake a screwdriver and remove the 3 little screws that attach the servo motor. Remove as much bracket screws as needed to bend the bracket to retrieve the motor and replace. Take the time to change out your AC cabin filter while you got the glove box out!

I have a feeling I'm headed down this path as the winter weather sets in, appreciate you confirming the MUCH cheaper Rock Auto part will do the job!

Is this the thing that makes a noise when I switch my AC to legs and head mode? In a single head mode there is no noise. But the AC is working, the heating is working. It makes noise but heats up both legs and head.
The noise means it's going bad? If yes, I'll need to replace the actuator as well.

Thank you.

Mine makes that noise as well, but I haven't been able to track it to any component behind the dash. It was "working fine" when I had it apart on the weekend...typical, lol. I'll have to let it sit out in the cold for a bit and pull it in and check it again. I'd really like to be able to pinpoint a component before I start throwing parts at it. Interior panels don't come apart as nice when they're cold though, might need to take it apart beforehand or drive around like that for a bit...what a PITA this is.

I hate that noise. When something is wrong, it doesn't feel good when I driver my car, I can't enjoy the ride. Ordered the part from Rockauto. Will update on the noise after I replace my actuator. Hopefully, I'll have no problem with removing the crews as I've heard they are not easy to reach.

I just picked up an 04' GX and today I tested the heat. Had Max set and Auto selected. The drivers side was hot, but the passengers side was ice cold. Would this blend door be the cause?

I have tried for days I simply cannot get that servo out. Even with the smallest right angle screw driver I could find even with taking off as many brackets as I could find. I cannot do it.

Default GX470 Blend door actuator motor replacement

Hey guys, Mecanix here. New to the Lexus community but when I got my GX470 in January the modes would not switch and passenger side blew cold air. I knew that the blend door was inoperative. So I ordered an eBay blend door actuator and made it work without having to remove the HVAC unit. I’m new to YouTube videos but wanted to help anyone else out there like me. Here’s the VID

With all due respect it appears as if someone was into that bland door servo before you. The machine screw you show being removed is not a factory screw. I was able to remove the factory screw in that position without issue. Its the third screw further back where the head of the screw faces the steel center console support with very little gap between them that's the issue.

Yeah it’s definitely tight, I didn’t notice someone had already been in there.
But I did have to take my servo/actuator apart and replace the motor. The old plastic clips broke so I had put a self tapping screw in the servo case to hold the two half’s together.

Thanks for your video, I got pretty close to getting the part out. However, the issue I am having is that the actuator that channels the air from the dash vent and floor vent is what is stuck on mine. And I have no idea how to get it out. I'll upload a video when I get a chance, but after fiddling with it, now it doesn't work at all. I think there is one screw way in the back that I would have to remove in order to take it out, but the fan under the dash is kind of in the way. The good thing about taking it apart is now I can get there again.
