Default Purchase guidance: 2004 GX470 Bumper Damage

Good morning,

I am in the market for a GX and found one that was recently traded to a non-Lexus/Toyota branded dealer (not independent). The price and mileage are reasonable. The radiator and dash have both been replaced. Water pump and timing belt are verified as replaced. So, all in all, it is a good package for its age. My only concern right now is the LARGE dent in the front bumper. The carfax is clean, but the last entry was 7,000 miles ago (oil). It looks to me that the bumper is a loss. First impressions, should I be worried about frame damage? Looks to my like somebody hit a pylon while parking. But the alarm in my brain is saying it is frame damage that they haven't had checked out and traded it in because the damage is greater than the cars worth. Otherwise, I am hoping the dealer is looking to offload an "ugly" car. I am having a Lexus dealer do a PPI, but if ya'll think that damage is cause for concern, I might save the money. Otherwise, I am pretty handy and might replace the cover myself. Any thoughts are helpful!

Very respectfully,
JP

I have same year also had a damaged bumper. I had it fixed with new bumper and color matched and painted cost me under a 1000.00

Might want to take it to a body shop and have them assess it. You don't want any bad surprises.

I would just get a new bumper skin and call it done.

Not sure if they arrive pre-painted, or you would need a bodyshop to paint-to-match. Or touch-up any shipping damage to the paint.

Either replace said bumper cover, or a great opportunity to go with an off-road ready fabricated bumper... Thus beginning your aftermarket journey/Mod Bug.
