Default $40k budget

Hey all. Need some opinions/future predictions.

The GX appealed to me because I thought I would be able to get a great deal on a great truck (e.g. $30k for 2014+ model with 60k or less mileage). The more I researched, the more I wanted the extra goodies, and the more the 2020+ exterior grew on me.

So right now I feel my options are the following:

1. 2014-19 Luxury for $35-42k
2. 2014-19 Premium for $32-37k
3. 2020-21 Premium for $43-45k
4. 2022 for $55k (not realistic for me right now, but wondering if/how much it may drop when 2024 is available)

- I test drive a 2015 and 2019 Luxury trim, and think I could go down to Premium to save some coin (although I’m going to test to be sure).

- I’m not sure the extra money for 2020-21 is worth it just for looks, since I do like the look of the older model too. It would be more so to have less wear and tear.

- 2022-23 is out of my budget right now, but I may be willing to stretch my budget for the new tech if price drops enough.

I know my range is all over the place, but right now I’m leaning towards a 2014-19 now, or waiting to see if 2022 would decrease to $45-48k. I tend to keep my vehicles long term so I’d be willing to stretch my budget if this is realistic.

Looking for some GX owners opinions of what they would do with $40k (or $45k

You should be able to pick up an earlier MY (14-16) for under 30K nowadays. There really isn't any exterior differences between those years and current versions other than the front grill and some trim pieces. The biggest change was with the new infotainment system starting MY '22, which you said was out of consideration. So my recommendation is to look for the best value MY14-16 with lowest milage and use your savings for mods and accessories.

If 40K is your budget, then check out this great deal on the Mud forums for a low milage MY'19 with a long list of useful mods

if it matters to you, the 19+ has the updated cell receiver so you can remote start the vehicle from your phone, my wife uses it all the time. So if remote start from your phone is important to you get a 19+

I bought a 2020 last year because of the better headlights. Almost bought a 2018, but there was a visible difference to me. If you have great night vision, I’d save the $$$ as everything else seems the same.
