Default Help: Wheel balancing adapter/cones? and more

Hello Everyone,
I had my tires powder coated, remounted, balanced and since then I am getting a vibration at 70-75 mph. I am currently working in Morgantown WV and it seems like shops in the area are intimidated by an old lexus. I found a very good guy with great reviews who is willing to balance my tires but he does not "have the correct adapter/cone" that is required in order to get it properly center in the balancing machine. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact model or specs of this cone/adapter?

Also if anyone knows of a good tech in the area i would like to get some maintenance done while i'm up here so if anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it.
FYI the guy i found won't mess with the fluids i want to change, brakes and transmission.

Find a place that does Road Force Balancing ... and let them worry about centering ...

Ask if he has finger plates and then if he does, to road force balance them. Road force balancing alone without the proper cone to center the wheel on the machine (hub centric method of balancing) won't get you anywhere.

Hello jonshonda that is the problem we are having. I am trying to gather as much info as possible so when i call shops i can tell them what they need in order to do this properly also i am trying to avoid paying for a 4th (yes that correct) balancing.

I feel your pain. You need to road force balance the tires on these trucks.

Use this link https://www.hunter.com/find-equipment/ to locate shops that have road force balancing machines near you. From there, call the shops listed to verify that they do still in fact have a functioning machine.

Well educate yourself on what the hub diameter and lug nut spacing is so you can tell them exactly what they need instead of having them look it up. I am the ***** engineer who has no problem sharing my knowledge even if they think they don't want it.

If they have the hunter they should have the cone. and know which one. but i did have some extra large wheels that one time they didnt have the cone. also even with RFB you can have issues if the out of round and the mass distribution aren't good enough for the tire and then same things for the wheel.

Cones ... Fingers ... just take your vehicle to a dedicated tire store that has Hunter Road Force Balancing ... and let them do their job. Discount Tire (America's Tire) knows how to do exactly that ...

Going to need the cone used with the finger plates. You not only need to know the size of the hub center you will also need to know the diameter of the shaft on the balancer. You didn’t state the year of your GX but most are 106mm

JUST FYI,

I did the road force balancing and one of my rims was off once he put "30 psi" not sure what that means. He had to deflate the tire and move its positions on the rims, recalibrate (balance) and good to go. It did fix my issue.

lexus factory has the dots on both the tire and wheel. and special tires designed just to get you to enjoy the ride. but those dont last long.
