Hi all. Does anyone have the latest Lexus Dash cam in their GX and if so, how do you like it? Here in Canada it’s a approx $774 cost which includes dealer install.

I know this is a more integrated option but is it really better than something like this for a similar price? (installed or less if you DIY)

 

I have it on my 21 GX, works fine but it is crazy expensive for the specs. (I paid 1/2 of that price, negotiate) It integrates nicely into the vehicle and you can load a much larger capacity micro SD card into it by formatting the card on your computer FAT32.

 

I feel that is too expensive, I installed a Thinkware solution with front and rear camera.
Pending how experienced or willing you are to loosen trim, the Lexus solution might be easier.

 

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, aftermarket may be the way to go. I am currently able to get it for $500 cad from Lexus but without the install. I don’t mind attempting the install myself but am now wondering it may not be worth even the $500. It does seem to integrate nicely into the windshield which is important to me but may sacrifice a higher quality image and features. I wonder if the Lexus cameras which are on the vehicle already will record footage in the event of an accident? I read somewhere they would but I would have to then seek the footage from Lexus. I’m unsure if these cameras would be helpful when parked though which is what I like about the dash cam option.
