OME MT64 shocks

Question: How many miles do you have on your ToyTec shocks? I have read somewhere that their longevity isn't what you'd call, "lengthy." They are reported to need more frequent rebuilds than you might expect.

I’ve heard nothing but positive stories about OME kit, it’s supposed to be spectacular.

At 54,000 my Toyotec coil over broke while driving. Threaded shaft broke off the lower cup. Full failure. Ripped the cv boot. Luckily I was seconds from stopping so no noticeable axle damage.
in the parking lot, I removed my tire and Tierod and was able to slide out the coil over. Limped home on the bump stop only 2 miles away.
Looking across the forums apparently this is happening to several folks with Toytec. I’m shocked as they were built by Elka. there is zero response from Toytec for those that have reached out.
now I officially have to buy a new suspension. I won’t trust the other side now and will replace every thing.

I checked some time late last year about the MT64. Mudify (one of OME's distributors in the US) mentioned they didn't have a timeline for the 460 but expected some time late 2024. I'd considered them against the Dobinsons IMS but didn't want to mess with trying to retrofit the 4Runner set and playing with the settings to make them work before a validated option, so I ended up going with Dobinsons. It's been great so far, super comfortable, and has pretty good medium speed valving. I've only done one offroad trip on them so far, but the IMS and the MT64 were the primary options as they're still rubber bushed, larger than OEM bore, non-remote reservoir and designed for longevity.

The IMS and Mt64 are on my list as well. I’m also looking at this Bilstein kit. https://www.shocksurplus.com/product...39801613320241
The other thought is the super basic OME nitrocharger kit
I have zero kit out. So no additional weight some day I might do a bumper, winch, and slides, but I have a fully kitted wrangler for long duration backcountry trips
i like the I’d idea of being able to spec out the spring rate if possible

Here is a thread that shows the failure of the Toytec that mimics my experience.

I went with C59-302 (which is actually softer than stock) and C59-327 to help with a steel tire carrier I plan on building. Looks and rides great.

For me, Toytec has been stellar ... but I have always gone the Bilstein route ... proven shocks that are close to bulletproof. Yes, Toytec sells Bilstein shocks and Bilstein coil overs ... but have decided to offer a "branded" product offering using Elka as their supplier.
Sorry, but Elka ? ... Seriously ? ... when there are proven shock suppliers that have beyond decades of hard-core experience in this space ? Why go there ? ... with reported failures being deflected by Toytec ...
