Default Truly 'Base' Lexus GX460 - How Common?

Friends,

I'm wondering how common is a truly base GX460 in the 2nd Generation... specifically curious about the 2014-2019 run, with original MSRPs in the low $53,000 range.

We're talking about models with no navigation, no heated seats, NuLux seats (as opposed to full leather), no fog lights, no rear climate controls, etc.?

My best guess as to how to identify a base GX460 on the road is by looking for GX460s with no fog lights... is this a tell-tale sign of a base model?

Just curious.

No Fog Light

Yes Fog Light

The lack of fogs would be a good external indicator. The lack of the rain sensor on windshield by mirror would also be a telltale indicator.

For 2014+ I've never seen one. I have seen two 2012-2013's with no options. My 2010 is a "base" but has navigation, 3rd row power standard and also has 3-zone climate. So mine isn't a real "base" model I suppose.

Good question.

Appreciate all the insights. Sounds like a true base is fairly rare.

I was looking through listings today and did see a ‘19 base with optional navigation. You still have the same screen so not sure how much this would affect anything on reliability scale if that is what you are after.

Lack of a headlamp washer on the front bumper also gives it away easy.

Curious if in this day-and-age anyone actually uses the OEM navigation on their non-base GX460.

2021 and earlier head units were awful with voice command. My 2022 is 100x better than my 16 and 17 gx. It makes using it wihle driving a breeze. With that said, I do prefer androird auto in my 22, but use both currently

Nope, I have no need or desire to learn how to use the navigation on my '23. It's really hard to beat Google Maps.
