Squeaking/Rattling Noise Indentified:Radiator Cover?
(Model: 2015 GX 460 Luxury)
Boy, this has been a strange one…
My latest annoyance, a seemingly intermittent light rattling/squeaking noise from in front of the drivers area or under hood, has been identified.
When I closed my door after parking in the garage, I heard it much more clearly…
Popped the hood, and realized it was the radiator cover, spanning the front of the engine compartment.
Gentle flexing of the cover confirmed it - see video… problem reproduced!
(Video Here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14Xq...w?usp=drivesdk )
I realized all the little clips were broken, sitting in their holes, but no retention/cracked.
This is the strange part - after an hour or so I went down to see what replacement clips I had to order, and the noise was completely gone…unable to reproduce it.
The squeaking noise only occurs after the engine is warm…I realized I hear it after the thermostat opens, after 3 or 4 minutes of driving.
I haven’t pulled off the cover yet (and won’t until the replacements arrive in a day or two), but anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m baffled…
Thanks - and a Happy New Year to all my GX-Driving friends,
Neil
