Looking at 2017 GX but wondering about LX...
#16
I've owned two LX570s, a GX470 before the LXs, and now own a GX460.
I've loved all these vehicles, all very reliable, robust SUVs.
I will say that the J200 platform is in a different league compared to the J120/150. The quality of everything is at such a different level on the LX/LC 200 series.
If you can stomach the poorer gas mileage and noticably shorter range fuel tank (~230-250 miles of range on a full tank), and have room in the wallet, then go for the LX. The AHC hydraulic suspension is wonderful and will last 300k+ miles without significant maintenance (rust is the main thing to worry about). The ride is smooth, plush, and AHC is very well engineered. Much better than KDSS.
I sold my 2015 LX570 and replaced it with a 2022 GX. I like the GX's updated infotainment / center stack, appreciate the 20+ mpg I routinely see on the highway. But honestly, I miss the slightly larger size of the LX, amazing ride, and powerful 5.7L V8. The LX's 13-15mpg avg was the deal breaker for me with high fuel costs in CA. I sold it within a few months of moving to CA from a less fuel expensive state.
Cannot go wrong with either.
