Default 2019 GX Luxury OFF Road

Hey folks, Im picking up a 2019 Lexus GX Luxury and I am wondering what is the difference between this and the GX Premium...
especially, when it comes to operating in snow storms, off road and horrible road conditions.

Is it worth the extra cost?

2019 Lexus GX Luxury
54k miles
pretty much loaded
38k

I'm hoping to put another 150k miles on it

I don't know about the 2019, but I have the 2023 Luxury w/ off-road package. Here are the differences:

1. Premium may not have third row seat auto recline & fold (not sure)
2. Luxury has the rear captain's seats and premium has the bench seats

There may be other luxury appointments, but I'm not sure exactly sure. As for the off-road package: There aren't any differences mechanically. Offroad packages offer much more features for off-road purposes such as crawl control, different offroad modes inlcuding terrain select. But you don't really need to get the luxury to have this. You just need to turn on the feature via techstream or other methods after you purchase the control buttons & ***** to control them. Many are doing this to pre-22 models. If you google GX off-road package install or enablement, you'll get tons of links and video how-tos

What you really care about (maybe not) is to see if the luxury trim or premium you're getting has the Mark Levinson stereo or not. This actually makes a pretty huge difference, and cannot be retrofitted. If I were you, that's what I would check for. And if the captain seats in the rear matter to you, then definitely the luxury trim.

Bottom line ... power needs to be delivered to the ground for traction ... so 4-Wheel Drive whatever is all marketing speak ... yes, the GX has one of the most advanced full time four-wheel drivetrains ... so focus on replacing the garbage OEM tires for ones that can actually achieve road traction ... no matter the GX model ...

Here is the differences between the two trim levels. And note some features can be added as individual options. As far as off road capability, there will be no noticeable differences between the two.

Most significant differences imho are the leather upgrade on the Luxury and the AHC rear suspension if you tow frequently.

If you decide to go premium + mark levinson, then here is the fairly simple path to Off-Road package addon / enablement: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/460...trims.1040976/

OP's main point ... "especially, when it comes to operating in snow storms, off road and horrible road conditions" ... and everybody above is focusing on leather and the sound system and peripheral features .

Tires ... Tires ... Tires ...

+1
Tires are the only small patch generating the friction to steer, accelerate and brake/slow down, without the friction you have no control.
