Default climate control button not working

i have a 2013 gx 460 137k miles.
The climate control button that brings up the climate control screen will only work intermittently, no real rhyme or reason. Also some of the NAV buttons will do the same thing as well as the temperature control on both passenger and drivers side. The dealer said I my need a software update around $180.00 not too bad, but said it could the "head" and would cost $3k anyone had a similar issue?

Here is the latest from the dealer, they tried to do a software update, it did no good. They want to replace something called the "head" Ithink its the electronic control module. They told me was a $9000.00 part but they could get a "rebuilt" for $3700.00 with 1 year warranty. Oddly enough the entire system is working perfectly right now,
left the dealer yesterday after oil change. This leads me to think if its working perfectly now why not two days ago. is this more of a possible bad connection or ground issue and not some computer part.

Those modules do go bad, or start acting wonky at times, then work fine for a while, then back to wonky. A bad connection is possible, but it could take lots of time to run down a bad connection.

Could be a failure in the digitizer portion of the touch screen so that your attempts to "push" a button aren't always seen by the system. This type of failure is common in some of these screens. I replaced the touch screen in my 2014 SRX for less than $200 with a lifetime warranty on the replacement. Took about an hr going slowly. Anyway, here's some potentially useful info: https://www.autotechnologyrepair.com...een-digitizer/
