Default AC systems delayed coming on

Just recently I have noticed that my AC takes about a 1 minute or so for it to come on and when it does it works perfectly fine up until that point it seems odd because the AUTO light is on, then turns off and if I hit the AUTO again it goes immediately to 75 degrees for both sides and then I can adjust accordingly.

Anyone know what the heck is going on here?

Thanks

Your evap core isn't instantly cold, so blowing air across it is pointless. The system needs time to cool the evap core, so it waits until the core is cold then starts plowing air across it. Almost any car with auto climate control will do this.

I would like to agree with you, but this just happened out of the blue. It has never behaved this way before. Prior to this issue, when I turned the vehicle on the air would respond and come on immediately but now it doesn't. It takes almost 1 -2 minutes before I can turn it on.

I would have someone check to see if any HVAC diagnostic trouble codes are stored. You will need a scanner capable of reading that data stream.

Just throwing out a wild guess is that perhaps there is an issue with the amplifier (expensive).

HVAC codes can be pulled without a reader at least on 10-21 models. Code PDF is in thread below.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...l#post10436269
  1. Turn the engine switch off.
  2. Turn the engine switch on (ACC) and wait at least 5 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the air conditioning control "AUTO" switch and "recirculation/fresh" switch simultaneously, and turn the engine switch on (IG). Continue holding the 2 switches until panel diagnosis mode begins

The HVAC delay and reset to 75 degrees is a telltale sign of most likely a blend door actuator that failed, or the recirc door/arm being broken when replacing the cabin air filter.

I have a few videos on it for an LS460, but the process is the same for any Lexus.

Thank you for this explanation. This is exactly what has been going on with my vehicle.

What will happen if I just leave it as is? Or is this something that needs to be address ASAP?

This is more of a nuisance to me at this point of times and can learn to live with it.

Thanks

Just annoying to have to wait and adjust the temp every time you drive.
