Default Yakima EXO SwingBase system

Hello all!

Just wondering if anybody purchased the Yakima EXO SwingBase system for their GX? Looks like a great (albeit pricey) system that wil fit the bill for what I’m looking to accomplish. I get get a gear locker, snowboards, etc, all on the back hitch without having to go on the roof. A really nice system, but wondering if anybody has any experience with this on their GX.

From the looks of the SwingBase, it seems like there shouldn’t be any clearance issues when the base is fully extended and the GX door is fully opened. Thoughts?

Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Yakima or Thule ... both design stellar products, hence the price ... so test the function, and if it meets your needs ... do not hesitate ... have the retailer install (a minimal effort) so you can test the function and tailgate clearance ...

I've been looking at the Kuat Pivot as a way to better use my pakmule hitch basket, given the obstruction when opening the rear barn door. I like how that Yakima option is multifunction, not just a hitch mount, but yes, it sure is pricey!

To me, the biggest benefit of the Kuat Pivot is that it has a driver side swing option, it does not appear that the Yakima product does. Are you able to full open the barn door with a passenger side swing?

In terms of fully opening the barn door, to the best I can tell, I should be able to fully open the barn door with the SwingBase fully extended. I was hoping to hear from others who own the SwingBase to confirm. With that said, I saw another GX owner that purchased the Yakima Fullwing bike rack and when fully extended, the barn door was able to fully open. Confidence building!

^^ Nice ! ... but heads-up ... impeding the visibility of the rear license plate is asking to get pulled over ... with some states being militant. Also, red reflectors are required on the ends of the protruding arms.
