Premium or Base? That is the question.

jjbenzo, you can get all of that (including the side moldings) added to a base. What you can't get is avs and the heated steering wheel (I think this is the case - the premium has it but the comfort package does not list it).

I don't care about the heated steering wheel. All I need are heated seats.
Why buy everything as separate options when you can get it all in a package under the "premium" grade? I don't see where Lexus offers the body side molding on non premium models. Of course you could have the parts department order them in and then put it on yourself, but why do that if all you have to do is order it in the form of an upgrade package with all the other good stuff?

I'm getting a base with everything I want but without stuff I don't care about (in particular avs and fancy headlights) and will be saving 4K. The other reason is I said get me whichever you can get in first - a premium with these features or a base with these features. I simply asked my dealer to get me the moldings and he is adding them for $995. The dealer tells me this is the only difference bw base and premium on the outside.

...oftentimes getting things bundled, rather than ordering al-la-carte (unless you are ordering one thing) is the best way to go. However, what counts most is whatever makes you go home feeling happy.

Took delivery of the car yesterday. White with Ecru. Looks and drives great. May try to find the molding but don't know exactly what that provides. Otherwise, no regrets. Enjoy your cars.

Funny, I have been trying to find out how to get a premium without the side molding. Apparently, it's put on at the factory and not at the port of entry. To me, it looks OK on the darker colors but a bit tacky on the Tungsten or Starfire Pearl.
