Hi this is Roach. I am new to the forum. Bough a 2023 GX460 Premium from an out of state dealership over the weekend. Will pick it up soon. This is our first Lexus. We have an X5 and a minivan in the garage.
Just joined the group and took delivery yesterday of our "new" to us 2020 Lexus GX 460 with the Premium Sport Design Package. I know this sounds like sacrilegious, but I did swap out the 19" rims for 18", because the tire choices available and cost of the 19" made no sense to me. Bought it for my wife, but I get the benefit of driving it for the long hauls. I too was looking at 4 Runners, then pivoted to RX 350s. She ultimately pick this one because it didn't ride like a truck. The only drawback was no Apple CarPlay, but I have seen a bunch of aftermarket options on-line. Any of you installed them? Would appreciate hearing the pluses and minuses of the units you have installed. The photo is with the original 19" wheels prior to the swap.
2023 GX 460
Premium Plus
Captain Chairs
Mark Levinson
Atomic Silver/Brown
Installed Roof Rails
Picked up my new 2023 Lexus GX 460 Premium Plus with Captain's Chairs at Lexus of Palm Beach Florida on 1/27/24. I wanted the last V8 and always wanted one of these for a number of years just never pulled the trigger. I was driving a 4X4 Z71 Silverado and went to buy a are Trail Boss Silverado but after the test drive it didn't cut it and my 2018 was starting to have electrical issues so instead of the new Silverado I went to drive the GX and didn't look back. This thing is awesome, I love the way it fires up, the V8 roar at the push of a button.
I was surprised that there's no front view camera and was wondering if there is a plug and play option for it. Seems to have all the wiring and I see a plug behind the Lexus emblem and am thinking knowing Toyota/Lexus the wiring is all in place. Any ideas?

Some folks have posted a method of getting a camera to work and display views all around the vehicle. I am about 90% sure these were 2014-2019 vehicles, prior to the display refresh in 2020, though. That scoundrel GXBob might have guidance for you, though. Look on the YouTubzeWeb thing-a-ma-bob for reference.

Beatsonic has a module and camera you can get to add a front camera. Won’t be the 360 degree camera but works great. Just added it to my kids Corolla and works perfect, on the Corolla, can even be set to come on below 5mph automatically .
Purchased used in 2019:
2010 GX460 Premium
Knight's Armor Pearl/ Black
NAV/ML
Intuitive Parking Assist
Preferred Accessory Pkg
Tow Hitch
Rear Air Suspension
AVS
It's nearing 155,000 miles; just had the front engine seals and water pump replaced. Lousy mileage; but it's a beast and I love it.
Going to tow a 2020 No-Bo travel trailer.
Insights welcomed.
Conveniently, REI was having a sale on cycling and rack related items, so the following are the descriptions and part numbers when I bought them for 15% off:
Yakima SKS Lock Cores - Package of 4

Many thanks to the shared knowledge in this forum, I pulled the trigger on a 2013 Lexus GX460 in January. I had been in the market for about a year, test driving a few as well as some LX's...Like many of you, I narrowed it down to a few options.
Option 1: 2016 GX460, 59k miles, 1 Owner (Ohio) $32,000, intermittently dealer serviced. (Silver/Sepia with F Sport Wheels, Newer Front End, Factory Tow with Trans Cooler, Updated Tech - BSM, Heated Wheel, etc)
Option 2: 2013 GX460, 192k miles, 2 Owners (Both Texas, and was a CPO),$14,000, always dealer serviced, (Black/Sepia with Older Front End = better approach angle, powered third row, navigation, dealer installed hitch, no trans cooler)
Due to a mix of various factors, I decided option 2 was a good entry into this venture. Keeping in mind this vehicle was stock, previously owned by a family who traded it for a new Lexus TX. While it was dealer serviced, it does have quite a few more miles than anything I had been looking at. Here's what I've done to it so far (the only thing it needed per the PPI was brakes):
Front & Rear Brake Pads, Rotors, Flush Brake Fluid, Adjust Parking Brake - $1,100 - Brakecheck
4 - BFG K02's LT265/60R18 - $1,300 - Discount Tire
Replaced Sunroof Seal - $400 - Bearden Auto
Replaced Driver Rear Door Actuator - $650 - Bearden Auto
Replaced Spark Plugs - $360 - Bearden Auto
Full Service Oil Change - $95 - Valvoline
Lubricate Entire Driveline - $100 - Bearden Auto
Drain & Fill (x3) Transmission - $195 - Valvoline
Replaced Fluid - Front & Rear Diffs and Transfer Case - $300 - Hill Country Yota Works
Replaced Battery - $250 - Self
Replaced Keyfob Batteries - $10 - Self
Replaced High Beam, Low Beam, Fog Lamps, Reverse Lights to LEDs - $250 - Self
Full Interior & Exterior Detail with Paint Correction - $275 - Self
Fuel System Treatment - $200 - Valvoline
Replaced Wipers (3)- $70 - Self
Replaced Front Fender Splash Guards - $40 - Self
Added ShiftPower Throttle Controller - $200 - Self
Replaced Cabin Air Filter (K&N) - $40 - Self
Replaced Engine Air Filter (K&N) - $60 - Self
Replaced Floormats and added Lexus Rear Cargo Mat - $300 - Self
Secured Driver side Rear Fender Liner - $10 - Self
In the next few weeks:
Replace Front and Rear Suspension Components with Bilstein 5100's- $1,100 - Hill Country Yota Works
Replace Radiator, Hoses, Thermostat - $1,200 - Hill Country Yota Works
Replace Power Steering Fluid
Replace Interior and Exterior Courtesy Lights with LEDs
Transmission Cooler
Roof Rack Cross Bars
Notables: Mileage improved from 14 to 17 average after the above maintenance items - and if I keep the ShiftPower in Normal Mode... (on a recent 1,500 mile road trip I got 19.5) Ride is significantly affected by the tire pressures (call me goldilocks, but the sweet spot for me is 38psi). I had these same tires on my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 and ran them at 45psi - clearly the BOF of the Lexus is affected more than the Jeep's unibody. Quiet Cabin - With the new tires and a decently paved road, it's almost as quiet as a friends RR Ghost. Shiftpower - I cannot recommend this enough - it brought new life to this engine/drivetrain. There is confidence when making passing maneuvers, in general, a more connected driving experience.
Overall you wouldn't know this rig has nearly 200k miles on it. The interior is in excellent shape, the exterior has a little character but nothing eye catching. The transmission and engine are super smooth and in sync. I noticed a better shifting experience after the drain and fill service. Let's see if we can make it to 300k+!
Again, thanks to everyone in this forum, your shared insights have been invaluable to making this an enjoyable project!! I will keep updates on the pertinent threads as I continue my GX journey.
I had my local valvoline crew do it, I called and asked them how they would approach it. They knew about matching the fluid temps, etc. The fluid used was their brand ATF Synthetic. I had my concerns about going somewhere and considered doing this item on my own, but for the price and convenience it was well worth it.
With that said, I will be taking it to Yotaworks for any future needs, their team is professional, communicates clearly, and the shop is tidy and organized. IIRC their team is made up of previous Lexus/Toyota mechanics.
