Just now seeing this thread. My name is Mena, I purchased a 2011 GX460 Premium last September. Last month I had a lift, wheels/tires and sliders added my rig.

Default New to Lexus

First post on CL.

I am a long time Toyota fan and after saving for many months to buy a 4Runner, I took a detour and landed on the GX460. The value for a good, lightly used GX was too good to pass up. While it is a lot heavier than the T4R, the GX is SO much nicer. The V8, heated seats and LED headlamps were big deciding factors for me.

I got a 2015 Luxury Black Exterior/Ecru Interior with Mark Levinson Audio. It had 44,000 one-owner miles and is in immaculate condition.

I've taken a couple of short, off-pavement detours and it is amazing in the bumpy stuff. This is my DD, family car and weekend excursion vehicle. I expect to be driving this for at least the next 10 years.

I've been lurking around CL the last few weeks to learn about my vehicle and very much appreciate the contributions of the many selfless forum members here.

Looks good. Needs an F-Sport grill, Morimoto fogs, debadge the rear and you'll be all set. I wish mine was Starfire...

Default Hi all, first post, been reading for a while

Got my 2014 GX460 a couple months ago. 65,000 miles, Chicago area
-base model (6 star rims) / silver / black interior.
My first upgrade happened yesterday. Got Carista OBD2 and turned off seatbelt chime. (I wear my seatbelt, not so much with winter coat with pockets full of gloves and liners.
-My next upgrade will be custom trash can for passenger side. Black Leather stitched and all. Because im a dirty guy! (Artist and handyman)
-And I'd love to replace my roof rails with a GX470's (if they fit) otherwise I'll put 4runner rails on it.

Just got this 2014.

Default Any suggestions on window tint

Wanted to window tint, called around got about same response from tint shops. 3 grades. (Eack was about $100 more) Was wondering if any one could help about ceramic vs. others...and one guy went on and on about how he uses a certain brand because 3M isnt good anymore....is this a sales pitch for his shop or does he have a point?

I've got a local tint guy that has done about 20 cars for me over the years. When I got my 2019 GX, my next stop was his shop to get the front doors tinted to match the factory rear door tint. I wound up using his top of line ceramic film since it matched the Lexus factory tint the best. It was a "Solar Guard" brand and not 3M. It was about $65 more than the mid grade tint, but full lifetime warranty on fade/bubbling. 20 minutes later it was done, and I'm quite happy with it.

Hello from NJ (for now!)
We recently picked up a 2015 Base w Premium package and could not be more thrilled. Our first step was to install Cooper AT3 LT's, size 265 65 18 and we could not be happier. I even managed to put a full size spare on it. I do have one issue which I know is a common one. The right front tire rubs on the inner wheel well bolt. Is there a downside to removing it or should I pull it and ziptie it instead?
We are looking forward to our trips to the Outer Banks and to Brigantine Beach here in NJ, as we love driving on the beach. We also plan on traveling alot once I retire.

Best regards,

JJ and TJ from NJ

I'd go to hardware store that sells individual hardware (post shelter in place) and try to find a flush head/ recessed bolt that fits. Up to you though... Ace hardware has good selection usually for items like this. worth a shot before removing it.
if you can't find a flush head bolt, try to find a plastic or rubber plug and shove it in there.
