Hey guys just got our 2 new GX’s in. I’m curious if anyone else can’t stand the factory headlights? I have a huge dark spot on my left side low beams and Lexus says it’s installed like that as to not blind other drivers. My wife says she doesn’t notice it but it’s making me want to trade it back in for another 4 runner. I love everything else about my GX but I feel like the lights for me are a huge no-no and a safety issue when I’m driving. I’ve driven plenty of vehicles with led lamps and never has this issue. Huge failure on the part of Lexus in my opinion and wondering if anyone has any advice. It’s really sad cause I really don’t want to get rid of the vehicle.

Vehicle manufacturers have to follow DOT regulations for headlight beam pattern that are designed for safety taking into account the vehicle driver visibility and the effects on oncoming traffic. Here is an article explaining the DOT regulations and explains the light cutoff on the left side to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. https://www.led-car-light-manufactur...ttern-dot-ece/

thank you for the info. I see why they do it but I’m curious as to why others do it better. I never had this issue with my 4Runner but they were halogen bulbs that gave me all the light I needed. I’m curious if anyone didn’t like their light pattern in the GX and opted for news lights up front. Again thank you for the info as that was an interesting read.

I see and know what you mean.
Our ML have advanced (Intelligent Lighting System, was what they called it) HiD lightning, pattern shifts based on speed, so city vs highway is different, note you have to activate that in US, as it is disabled due to DOT regulations, but as I have SW to access engineering settings I activated it

My Explorer has LED, but reflector not projector, so the cutoff was not sharp, but blurry, so it feels like the light is better. Reality is when driving back to back I can see he GX has better lights at night, just that the cutoff is way sharper so more noticeable, this would be similar if you come from halogen to LED with projectors.

Not sure if you can manually raise the beam pattern, as they are self leveling based on load etc.

Thank you for the explanation it is much appreciated! Maybe this is the first projection led headlights I’ve driven? I took the vehicle to Lexus and of course the lights are spot on according to their techs. Question is for you think I’ll get used to these new lights? I’ve already called my Toyota dealer and put myself on the list for a solar octane pro to trade in this GX for.

finally got them in and detailed. Two 2022’s premium plus sport design with captains chairs. If you all are hesitant on atomic silver and red don’t be it’s definitely my favorite of the 2!

Hi I'm a new member here. Former owner of an LX 400 (loved that car), and my wife and I might be picking up a GX later today.

Update: We picked up a 2023 Nori Green Black Line special that we ordered months ago. Nice truck. We traded in our lifted 4Runner for it.

Will do. My wife is taking it back tomorrow to get more tint added to the font windows (Texas heat). You are allowed to tint the front window in Texas. The grey interior is nice, and the dark ash wood is beautiful. The 360 degree terrain camera is also very helpful as we hope to eventually overland this thing. We could have waited until next year as it would have the new engine and design, but we wanted the last of the V8s and after all these years, I'm counting on Lexus fixing all the issues with the final version. We wanted the most reliable vehicle and I believe we got it. This thing is built like a tank.

Here is a picture of saying a sad goodbye to my wife's beloved 4Runner. She is already looking at lift kits and new tires. Initially, I think we will keep the wheels (which are very nice) but add some spacers and Nitto tires.

Greetings to the group,
This past Saturday I picked up my 2023 GX460
Blackline edition
Nori Green
No options other than what Blackline included

I want to swap out the tires for something a little more aggressive for the Colorado winters. I like the Boulder interior over black. I'm in the high desert here and the temps ad sunshine can be pretty intense in the summer. I'll get the front windows tinted in a few weeks. Other than that, I just want to drive it.
