Definitely Yes take it easy on the gas pedal. I usually keep an eye out on the eco light and the dash gauge whenever I startup from a standing... I've been getting over 300...I'm always hopeful for 350-375...

You will have a very hard time getting 400 miles to a tank but If I do ALL highway, meaning a trip, fill up, all highway to empty and fill again I can get about 360-370 a tank. I could probably get 400 but I don't want to push it and possibly run out. Driving daily to work and wherever else I go I get about 16 MPG.

16MPG isn't bad at all. Hell, I was barely getting 17 MPG with my GS350.

My 2014 GX gets better gas mileage than my 2006 GX. We get 20 MPG/highway on the '14.

Exclamation Realistic MPG?

Hello,

I am considering the 2010 Lexus GX460. I love Lexus, but my concern is the gas mileage (MPGs).

I currently drive a 2002 Lexus SC430 coupe/convertible, which is a 4.3L V8 engine, and my gauge reads 16 MPG on average (I do nearly all city driving). What can I expect with the GX?

Can anyone please post realistic MPG numbers from their GX460?

Perhaps you can take a picture of the gauge with your phone, for authenticity?

Thanks in advance!

MPG is not it's strong point. With 93 octane gas, I get right at 12mpg on my '15 GX460, city & burb driving in Austin, TX (some hills in the burbs).

I average 14-16 MPG in city driving. In the winter when it gets cold and have snow on the ground, it's gone down to 12-13 MPG. I would say, I get 15 MPG average in city driving with 93 octane Mobil premium fuel. I get the same MPG in my 2014 as I did in my 2010 GX 460. Good luck with your decision.

I'm averaging 15.5 MPG overall mixed driving. I have gotten as high as 21 MPG on all highway driving.

Default gas mileage

Hmmmm. I consistently get 19.3 mpg - driving in the mountains of Colorado.

The GX gets much better highway mileage. If you're trying to save gas, driving around the city isn't the thing to do.

Default Premium fuel?

I just picked up my GX three days ago. Haven't filled it up yet. Is it really necessary to use premium? Or will regular unleaded do the job?

You will get a lot of opinions here and my opinion is no, it is NOT necessary but with that being said the engine and computer were designed to run the GX most efficiently on Premium. The computer will adjust the engine to run on regular with no issues but you will be losing power and efficiency. We have been running regular in our company S550's for years, 3 yr 25k lease, on our 6th one, they have never ran premium, always regular and they run just fine.

Just my .02 .
