We just made the trip to "beautiful" omaha.......we averaged about 20 most of the way. Through the rugged Nebraska terrain it was about 18 but getting back to scenery it went up guessing because there was some actual change in elevation beyond 2 feet and could coast a little.

I get that at times too on higher speed runs without headwind and limited hills. It is really close to hand calculation on mine. Personal best was around 20.8 MPG.

from my personal experience, it is dead accurate. My 2017 ct200h, not so much.

No doubt you could hypermile these things deep into the high 20s.

My GX had about 2,000miles at this point. I was able to get similar gas mileage. I was thrilled to see it can pull it off. I had about 300lbs of gear, two adults and 222 miles. I was able to repeat the mileage again on the way home. My main motivation from not getting bigger/heavier tires (for now)

My previous GX470 was always 1mpg optimistic as compared to manual calculations. The GX460 has repeatedly been spot on every time! Over the last few months I’ve done two 350 mile each way trips. I averaged 24 mpg! Key is to keep the speed between 65-75 and accel gently. I ran with AC but truck was not loaded to the gills though. Don’t use cruise control as you will get lower numbers. I did this as a test to see what it’s capable of achieving but more realistically here in DC metro I average 19-20 mpg weekly.

I've been able to achieve 24.5mpg, avg on a tank of fuel, hand calculated (pretty much matched the display).
Conditions: All highway, driving mostly 55mph with little traffic, no large hills and near to sea level elevations. Fuel used was high octane (92/93) from a Top Tier supplier. OEM tires at a bit higher PSI. Not heavily loaded, no roof rack etc.

Same above but at 65mph I was able to averaged 22.5 on a tank.

Towing a small motorcycle trailer (less than 1000lbs total, new trailer tires properly inflated) at around 55-65mph as in the above conditions, It got around 16-17mpg average on the trip (1300+ mile trip).

However, around town with a little 55mph driving, the GX (without trailer) would get In the mid-low teens or so.

For comparison:
My other car, which is rated at 25mpg highway, could achieve close to 32mpg in the top scenario. It averaged around 30mpg during long commutes of 55-65mph, some traffic, all highway and flat roads at near sea level. Where I live now (slower speeds on small roads, some up to 60mph, and short distanced trips) it averages in the 19.x mpg. If I still owned the GX, I suspect it would get in the low/mid teens for my current driving conditions.

I have noticed my MPG has dropped over the past year or so and I am driving less aggressive lately. It has been mentioned in another thread that changing the spark plugs helped a member here get better MPG.

133K miles with original plugs on mine so I am past due.

e90 M3 is a sport car @ 3629 pounds curb weight.
GX460 is built for off-road and larger @ 5130+ curb weight.

Ethanol in the fuel? Costs me 10% on mpg. No Ethanol = better mileage.

Close enough that I no longer do my own calculation at the pump. Probably within a few tenths.

Somehow I doubt this, and it sounds like he filled up early too. In my m3 the fuel light would come on before 200 miles. Horribly small tank.

Yeah this was closer to my reality in my e92. Maybe 15-16mpg best?

This tank in question was probably at least 15+ gallons of ethanol free gas from Buc-ee's. I believe their ethanol-free is 89 octane. Rest of the tank was kirkland/costco 87, which I believe is 10% ethanol in my area.

I think it definitely helped out, because I wasn't really trying to save gas otherwise.

I just snapped the photo at 222 miles, there was more gas in the tank. I did that just to show what mileage I was getting. I'm also a former m3 owner but having a family has changed some priorities. Enjoy your e90 in good health
