This is my daily commuter car. If I knew this is how I will be getting in mpg, I would have considered the RX instead. Although I love GX way more in every other category.
Getting an actual 12.5mpg with 100% city driving doesn't sound that far out of the ordinary.

I think a lot depends on how brutal your stop-and-go is. 4.6L burns a lot of fuel just at idle. If I go through a drive-thru with a long wait, or anything with a long idle, my MPG plummets. Same if I go downtown, have to fight through traffic, park in garage, etc.

I get low teens when it's mostly in-town. Mid-teens with a mix of highway thrown in. I only get near 20 or slightly above on long highway trips. Though for what it's worth, I only go by what the screen tells me and haven't calculated my actual MPG in a long time. Similar to what ASE suggested above, I run a little higher pressure usually 35-36psi.

Cleaning air filter, raising tire pressure will be pretty slight bonus. It's possible you could have some fuel issue but I doubt it. Switching to regular fuel could do a lot to take the edge off of fuel cost if the cost bothers you, saves me about ~20% running regular vs premium, but that's up to you.

IMO the RX is a completely different driving experience to the GX and worth the extra gasoline cost. However the RX is far more economical and probably more comfortable to drive too.

Mine was getting around 13-14mpg city with 90k miles on it.
I had the injectors cleaned (off car) and they were pretty dirty, put two new upstream O2 sensors in it and now I'm in the 16-17 range.

O2 sensors can play havoc on gas mileage.
Did you go to the dealer to clean the injectors?

I got 17 to 18 on avg for mixed driving. No city. 17 to 18 is what I get before each fill-up on trip computer in gx.

Overall, trip computer says 19.1mpg and 30mph since day 1? I never changed battery so far. No idea how 19.1 and 30 are calculated. These 2 numbers seldom move up or down.

How easy to clean the injectors? Is it DIY? Where did you get O2 upstream?

How many Miles are you GX owners getting on a full tank of premium gas? I have not been able to get past 295 Miles on a full tank. and My MPG is around 11 or 12 after refuel. I remember when the car was in its early mileage I was getting 300+. I'm now at 25K and mines a 2018 Premium Trim. Although I'm never able to actually get the 295 and my tank finishes up about 50 to 70 miles earlier then stated. I use 91 octane and occasionally 93 octane. 93 ends up lasting a tiny bit longer than 91. I end up at the pump every two days for a fill-up.

I get around 375 miles when fuel lamp is on for an avg 20 gallon fill-up. Trip computer often says cruise range of about 390 miles lately. MPG gets better somehow.

I have RC Injection not too far from me so I took them out and had them done.

Most of the readily available injector cleaners (Dealer / Auto Parts stores) aren't strong enough to do the job and with them in a flow bench you can really see what's going on with each one.

I can attest to that... average I get about 18.5 MPG...

I have a 2015 GX with about 55K on the clock... mixed driving... but really light on the pedal and coasting... mixture of city and highway driving (70/30) and I put in about 20 gallons per fill up.

For the year that I've own vehicle (got it used in November 2018) and tracked my fill ups... I've clocked about 9,782 miles driven.... with about 28 fill ups to date... I average 19.0 MPG.

That's close to 12 mpg not 15 mpg as EPA numbers on sticker. I don't have heavy foot nor I drive like a grandma so how can I get better mpg on the Gx?
One thing I did after also being unimpressed with the gas mileage that you might want to try is set your driver info screen to "Current MPG" (with the horizontal bar meter) so you have a real-time gauge as to what your mileage is as you drive around. I watched it for just over a week and by trying to keep it away from the low end, I was able to achieve 15 mpg average, but I definitely had to modify my behavior and really baby that throttle, and as others said let the GX coast as often as you can. I've since decided to leave that screen as my default, because I still need a reminder if I want to keep trying to save some fuel. Am pretty much always driving around town with a lot of poorly programmed traffic lights (i.e. seems like you gotta hit the red light more often than not at each intersection) and horrible drivers who can't keep a consistent speed.

I got 15mpg for current tank. I think gx MPG display/Calc is very sensitive on idle time (wait in traffic).

Why aren't these tranny's 8 speed like everyone elses out there too, so hwy mpg is better. Man, making it tough for me to stomach over the competition.

Edit - just saw a review that says the 2020 is 8 speed.... anyone confirm?

Because they are proven ... bulletproof, unlike the 8-speed.

Not buying that, it's a tank, but others have 8 speed for years without issue that can be matched with issues seen on the GX board. And LX has 8 speed too. Makes no sense
