I am getting 18.3. on my 2019 GX.. with 4k miles on it. That is mostly highway driving .. Honestly it is much better than I thought I would get.. I also have
a 2012 RX with 60K on it, and it gets around 21 MPG around town.

My wife drove the GX for a few days... dropped that MPG readout into the 13s.

A few 6 to 8 speed comparisons over the years in LC/LX 570

2009 LC - 13/18 (City/HWY) - 6 speed

2009 LX 570 - 12/18 (City/HWY) - 6 speed

2015 LC - 13/18 (City/HWY) - 6 speed

2020 LC - 13/17/14 (City/HWY/Combined) - 8 speed

2015 LX 570 - 12/17/14 (City/HWY/Combined) - 6 speed

2020 LX 570 - 12/16/14 (City/HWY/Combined) - 8 speed

Probably some calculation changes as well in the last few years.

If I am getting avg 12.5k in the GX, how would it be if I had a land cruiser (which I admire more than my GX) ? I would not be surprised if I get below 10 mpg in the city. That's the reason I never consider getting a land cruiser

That's close to 12 mpg not 15 mpg as EPA numbers on sticker. I don't have heavy foot nor I drive like a grandma so how can I get better mpg on the Gx?
In most US locales, your fuel is getting dosed with ethanol for the winter months. Ethanol is a lousy fuel compared to petrol, with many fewer kw/unit volume. So some of your current lousy mileage could be due to that. After a tank of pure city driving in the winter in the west hills of Portland, OR I have gotten a similar reading or two. Normally, I get about 14 mpg. I have a lead foot from years of manual Bimmers; I am trying to improve that. I really am. Ha!

Thanks - guess they just need better engine engineers for their larger vehicles.

Does it matter if you use Regular 87 vs Premium 91?

Oh no!!...You went there . Use what you want and and if you are a casual driver you probably won't notice a difference.

Topic has been beaten to death in multiple threads.

Who cares about the MPG on the GX ? Every owner knew before purchasing the GX what the gas mileage was going to be with the EPA Estimate.

I will take the lower MPG every day of the week from the tried and true V8 power without having to deal with a twin turbo engine, DI (except Toyota D4S), or VCM.

That's true but like it or not, there is a big difference between 12 and 15-16 mpg. There might also be something wrong with the GX too. It's worth to find out.

I do care about how much MPG I get. Please don't tell me to get a Prius if I want better fuel economy as this is not the topic I am discussing. EPA says 15 city and 20 HWY. I am not getting what EPA is stating so I opened this discussion. If you don't have something useful to add, you can exit this thread and make a comment on other threads you like

Cut your losses and buy something else (with a 8 speed) ---- you didn't know you were buying a brick with a V-8 or that EPA estimates are not much better than a guess?

Guess? I really don't know how you own a car. you don't know how EPA works then. That article is not correct and I don't trust a website like Edmunds to say if this is right or wrong

you could disconnect 4 plug wires and drive a 4 cylinder 😅 🤣 🙄
I could give a 'F...' about the EPA rating, my GX gets driven, its only 9 months old with 16K on it so far....
