I have wondered if the 288-292 HP ratings in Eurasian markets are based on regular unleaded

usually averages around 16-17 mpg with stock tires with mixed use, the highest I could extract on the highway was 21mpg.
I recently upgraded to wildpeaks 265/70 R17 and MR 17 inch 0 offset wheels, this drastically dropped the mpg to 13-14 in city and 17 in highway. This tire and wheel combo weighs 10-11lbs more than each stock setup.

I have not reset my "average fuel economy" setting in our 2011 gx in over 30,000miles. It currently reads 19.4.
Mostly highway driving, occasionally pulling a 1500lb boat, or a 2000-2500lb trailer, stock tire size, but now running Michelin MS2's, always kept at 36 psi. I only run 87 octane, except when towing for longer distances. In the winter, the mpg goes down quite a bit. 14-16, but in the summer, with mostly highway and keeping it below 75, and under 2k rpm, I usually get more than 20mpg / tank. Right now I have 20.4 mpg since last fill on my meter, and have burned 3/4 of the current tank.
Overall not bad. In my gx470, I would make it up to around 21-22mpg per tank, but not in the 460.

I just did a 600 mile round trip from Shreveport, LA to Magnolia, MS and back running I-20 and I-55 all the way. 18.0 MPG running 70-75 mph the whole way. 2.5 lift, 265/70/17 tires and a lot of added weight.

Would agree that if MPG is a concern, the GX is not your vehicle. I happen to love the torque of a normally asperated V8 (and how the DOHC motor pulls hard to redline on the hwy) and the BOF architecture. To answer the OP's question, I have two GX's (Have had three) Two 16's and now a '21. Having stated that, my wife uses regular gas and drives like an octogenarian. She never resets her MPG and has averaged 18.8 over a couple of years. My previous '16 and current GX (running premium) avg. around 13.6 city and almost 19 hwy. We just made a run this weekend in wifey's GX and got 19 with me driving averaging 76 MPH---much of the time with cruise set on 80. We drove my '16 to Florida (I-75 both ways) and and back in December. Had not driven there since HS and man, if you weren't going 80 once you hit Georgia, you got run over. Most of that GA/FLA leg was @ 85 with a fully loaded vehicle, averaged about 18.6, which I thought was pretty darn good. I had ONE tank of gas on the return, (and I cannot remember what brand) where we averaged 21.3 at 80+.

Just did a trip to the beach and after fill up, drove 270 miles which included 75+mph highway (about 90%), stop/start traffic and lights and a few miles beach driving. Topped up with 15gal when I got home for an average of 18mpg, which is what the trip computer estimated as well. Stock suspension and wheels.
