I also own a beautiful 2013 XKR convertible, and I was always able to get at least the City rated numbers when driving locally around town. Hopefully it will get better.
p.s. no need for comments on reliability of Jaguars - I for one never had problems with any of them.
Is the MPG calculated from a fill-up or is this information from the dash display? I wouldn't trust the dash display with such a low mileage. Calculate it on actual mileage and fills over further distances.

MPG displayed ... as is the Odometer (miles traveled) ... are both based on wheel rotations to calculate the distance traveled ... which is based on an assumed tire diameter that is fixed via programming.

Any real world difference in tire diameter from the programmed tire diameter ... either by installing different tires ... or due to differences in tire pressure ... will result in both measures being inaccurate ... specifically for comparison purposes between GX owners.

Default Highway mileage rating fluctuation

Hello,

Im shopping for a GX and noticed that up until 2016, Highway mileage is rated at 20. It then drops to 18 for model year 2017.

Does anyone know why the economy changed?

Sounds more like an EPA test procedure change.

As far as I know there has been no significant change to the GX platform, only exterior appearance , but I could be wrong.

18-19 is my average in our 2018 (103K miles), daily commute RT is 80 miles and about 80% highway/Interstate driving. On the I-Ramps I give her the Italian tune up using the manual shifter, shifting in the 3500-4500 RPM range.

I would say that just Hwy MPG is *probably* 20, going about 70MPH......?

^ Agree ... the EPA does change the test methods ... plus there are other (subtle) differences when comparing year-over-year ratings ... tires, tire pressure, environmental conditions (temperature, wind ... etc.) It's intended as a consumer tool for comparison across manufacturers and models within a specific model year. Real world is always different than the EPA rating.

Default Record MPG

I recently finished a 2,400 mile cross country driving trip in my 2023 GX. On one of the fill ups driving a mix of backroads and 70 mph interstate I got 24.8 MPG. I filled up in a small town in Northern Arizona and I suspect there was no ethanol in the gas which would account for an additional 1-2 MPG. I was routinely getting 22-23 MPG on the trip. The worst mileage was on a fast interstate with hilly terrain and a strong headwind--18 MPG. I have no idea why but the 2023 seems to get better mileage than my prior low mileage 2019 GX.

Default How many miles per tank are GX owners getting?

Was wondering how many miles per tank people are getting in their GXes? Obviously, most of you are not running the tank empty, but I'm just curious as to what to expect.

I regularly get 20 mpg in mixed driving. I found it was hovering around 17 over the summer and realized if I shut off the rear air when no one is riding with me, it goes right back to getting 20.

A mix of city and hwy driving averages me around 340-350 miles per fill. With how hot summer has been this year in TX, the average has been 310-320 the past few months... All on 93 octane and mostly filled at Costco.

Have three GXs. All get an MPG range of 16-23, depending on highway or city and who’s driving. Wife’s 21 gets 20.8 city/ minimal highway. (BTW, I had the 21 for two years and never got close to that in city/hwy) Son’s 16 and my 23 got 22+ mpg on a 2,400 mile Florida round trip last month avg 75+ mph which included the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky. Fuel brand did make a huge difference. Whatever brand of gas we got at a station in Macon GA was garbage. The southbound I-75 stretch between there and Florida was basically flat and smooth as glass. It was a Sunday morning and EVERY trooper, sheriff, and local yocal were out, so we were on cruise control just under 75. The mpg on both the 16 and 23 were in the high teens! We ran some tanks using regular and mostly premium. Didn’t seem too make much difference. I do believe that Costco’s Top tier premium was the best.

Just travelled 600 km (375 miles) over the highest passes in the western Canadian rockies. Averaged 10.7L/100km (22 mpg) actual.
Very happy

After 7 months of ownership, my 2023 GX averages 12 MPG. This is the first car I've owned that with my driving patterns does not at least gets the claimed Urban/City rating on the sticker. I'm driving the same towns, speeds, traffic patterns I have been doing here for over 25 years. With all my previous vehicles (Nissan Maxima, Pathfinder, Jaguar XF, XF SC, XJ, F-Pace, XKR, etc.), I always matched at least the city rating, and usually better.
