My 23 GX is getting about 19 overall. Recent road trip to Utah, Az, Ca, and Nevada, driving mainly on highway, country/mountain roads, speeds ranging from 50mph, to 70mph, and in in some cases 80mph, I am getting about 20mpg. I was using Costco, Phillips 66, Shell, Maverik gas.

I don't mean to sound pretentious, but we didn't buy the GX for fuel economy. No one buys Toyota/Lexus trucks or SUV's for fuel economy, cuz they don't get GOOD fuel economy. haha

I think the computer says an overall average of 14.5, and my wife usually drives the kids on short trips to school and a fairly short trip to work, which is hard on V8's in cooler climates. We also tow our travel trailer, and when we do we are lucky to get 9mpg.

I’m just shocked that after all the screaming about the poor mpg of the V-8 the new GX550 gets only 1 more mpg. Lots of engine complexity and transmission gears for that minimal increase. Bet in the real world it will be worse, and being turbocharged I wouldn’t mess with anything less than premium gas 24/7.

Default What kind of MPG are we getting?

Hi folks,

On my way to purchasing a second Gen.

So, what are you seeing in terms of miles per gallon in your beast? I know what they are SUPPOSED to get, but I saw a video that kind of shocked me - the guy is averaging around 11.

I have NO chance of getting my wife’s blessings with THOSE kind of numbers! My fingers are definitely crossed…

its pending location and driving style.

I just checked, and ours show 16.9 verge since we got it in Sep 2021, that is with almost 40k miles now.
We have seen 20-21 when driving constant around 80mph for 3h, but I'm in S FL, so its flat here.
Each tank is between 16 and 18, short trips, stop and go kills the economy

I get around 18mpg highway. Loaded up with rooftop cargo box and it drops to under 16mpg. City driving is the worst though. I’ll get about 13mpg in city. I’ve got a 2 inch lift and AT tires. Before the mods I could easily get 19mpg highway. I usually cruise around 70mph.

Default Idling kills my mpg

Hi all
I live very rural. Like one stop sign in town rural, & 4 stops and 2 lights on 50 mile drive to work.
Mountains with hills n turns, but I average 55mph with stretches of 65 and slow curves at 45.
I get about 17mpg average in this new to me 2010 G460.
wife n I went Pigeon forge and I did lots of idling with Ac on.
I got 10 mpg idling waiting for wife or me running in somewhere and she sitting in car.
i reckon an hour half maybe 2 hr idling and killed the mpgs.
I never had a car where idling killed it that much.
PS. All hand calculated, i don't believe lieometers. Also I fill up when dead low, run a full 20 plus gal cycle usually.
