I don't want to knock anyone here, but I think Lexus should of used the V6 from the 4Runner and used a 6 speed.

I think the 4.6 is little low on the HP compared to the 4.0.

I can see why Lexus did it, but I would of liked to see close to 325hp and I would be more accepting.

Overall the GX is a good truck, but a bit more power would be good.

The 4.6 gets better mileage then the 4.0 V6 (I'm sure the 6 speed helps). The 5th gen 4Runner gets the same mileage as the GX and is 500 lbs lighter. I'm very happy with the mileage especially when towing. The GX gets better mileage then my old 4.7 V8 4Runner, even being 800 lbs heavier.

Default Fuel Range on 1 tank the GX460

Hey guys,

Just wondering how many miles you guys get on one tank of gas. Is it between 300-400 miles? I know hills and city driving makes a difference, but I'm trying to get an average.

Thanks!

Short answer is yes, I've gotten as low as 300 miles to a tank and as much as 390 to a tank. Many things depend on how many miles you can get but that's a good ball park.

He must drive slow, I've never seen mileage like that out of mine. On my new one, I get about 1 MPG less with the Michelin LTX M/S2's. I don't think I've ever come close to 20 MPG on the highway. I've seen 16 MPG in the city.

Could be the new engine and not the tires?

no
actually thats going about 70 mph, hopping right on highway after fill up on level ground. thats on my non oem michelins.
it was 25 mpg on jersey turnpike.
if you recall, i posted 23 mpg on prior thread going down south on hilly terrain.
you have to manage the throttle carefully.

you want to know my mpg in city in winter, 11 mpg.
its aweful in stop and go traffic

Okay, I guess there are more hills in Missouri. I never go 70 MPH, at least 80 MPH when I'm on the highway. I use Mobil Premium 93 octane.

Default MPG? Base or Luxury?

Hey everyone, long time no see.

Previously, I owned an 04 GX470 base and love it soooo much, dress it up with every little pieces I could find, HID, 20" rims, and Navi + re-build the whole audio system. Sold it because i moved to Chicago and can't really afford it anymore without a decent job.

Right now, I feel so regret and just saw the new GX on Chicago auto-show. Fall in love with it right-a-way.

I know you guys are expert and I would like to ask just few questions.

How is the MPG on the new one?

What are the major differences between Base and Luxury model?
(I need Navi and ML and DRL)

Thank you guys in advance and it feels real good coming back to Lexus.

I get about 350 km to the tank, all stop and go in the city. A recent trip to Toronto from Montreal, round trip (1100 km) was about a tank and a quarter. All in all much better mileage than my old Audi S4.

In Canada, the luxury has navigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and a few other gadgets. Nice toys, but not enough to justify the $8000 premium to me so I went with the base. I think that's already luxurious enough!
