The XM Weather alert "Severe Weather nearby" alert is constantly going of even though there is no severe weather in the area. I was wondering if any one with the XM Weather service has the same issue and has been able to fix it without calling XM support which in my opinion are worthless.

I had mine go off the other day in my LS 460, but I haven't had it happen in my GX 460. I agree, the phone reps are worthless at XM. You might ask someone in service at your Lexus dealer.

Mickey:
The "Severe Weather Nearby" alert covers a lot of ground ... display the map and I'm guessing you will see plenty of alert icons. Unlike traffic alerts, which are specific to the route you are traveling, weather alerts are ... well, nearby ... and nearby may mean many miles away.
We have found that most weather alerts are obvious ... we can see that it is raining, but it has been useful when we start out driving in good weather, but the weather deteriorates later in the day. On a recent trip up the New Jersey Turnpike the weather map correlated closely with localized thunderstorms and the cold front moving in from the northwest.
As for alerts happening "all the time" or "not working at all" ... either extreme means something is wrong. Much like traffic alerts, weather alerts rely on reports from other sources that XM can not control. Like the weather ... it depends, but it should correlate to the weather in your area.
The service appears accurate, reliable and useful based on our experience since acquiring our GX 460 in February 2010.
