There won't be a lot of aftermarket accessories compared to the Jeep crew. The first generation GX didn't see much support until the prices dropped a bit... I want to say around the mid teens to the high 20s price range. Give it time, we'll start seeing a lot more in a few years.

@tecman

Are the LEDs low enough to get caught on something? From the pictures, it looks recessed enough to be out of the way.

Fully agree. We are just starting to see armor for the 2010+ GX’s, but I would just think something as simple as a LED replacement would be a given from the dozen lighting companies out there. I appreciate the poster with the walkthrough, but I think if he was to make kits he could maybe make a nice penny.

A lens cover would be more practical to help from these getting kicked. I bought this
Amazon Amazon
and planed to install 2 at the foot-well and one for the glove box and console but they have way too much blue on the white setting.

A question came up about the led under the seat. I never even looked at this as my GX is a work truck and the rear is full. Anyway the light is the same but it has a connector. Pics are the lower seat fabric that is tucked under the seat. Mod shown here earlier shouldn't be a problem.

LED circuits are current limited. This reduces any risk of burning out the power supply due to over current draw.
You should be able to desolder the LED and then add a brighter one in the exact same location. The OEM like one of those real dim 20ma versions.
Replacing with the same size but white and perhaps a higher light version will give more output, but not as much as the mod shown above.

Looking to do this on my GX470. I don't like how the amber door, floor, and dome courtesy LEDs dim when I put the GX into Drive. I think the amber glow gives off just enough light when they are fully lit up. Would there be a way to keep the LEDs from auto dimming? I assume that this is controlled by one of the ECUs, and wonder if there could be a quick bypass that could be run to keep all the courtesy lights from dimming. Looking at your post, it appears that you just spliced in a normal 194 LED on the original wiring?

Anyone wanting a simple upgrade to the foot well lights, just get some pre-wired 5mm LEDs in the color of your choice. Snip the wires leading to the existing LED, leaving enough room to splice. Splice the pre-wired LED of your color choice into the cut wire, run it through a rubber grommet and then back through the hole. Secure the rubber grommet with glue or tape. Takes 10 minutes. Make sure you keep the old LED and its socket as you may want to wire it back in at some point. The new LED will function just as the old one did. It stays on when it's supposed to and dims when it's supposed to. And be sure to get a 6 volt 5mm LED. There are plenty of sites that sell them cheap.

These are the ones for the RX which are White. The back ones are plug and play, the front you'll have to solder the wire since there's no plug for the fronts. I did this for my truck and love the outcome.
