Default First CPO Service

I bought a CPO 2010 GX460 in Feb 2011. 14K miles, mint condition. Took it in for the first (20K) service yesterday. This is my first experience with Lexus service. I was charged ~$200 after a credit for $75 as the first oil change is free. When I got home I checked the invoice - bulk 5W 30 oil was used, not synthetic 0W 20 as indicated in the owners manual. The 20K service is also supposed to include a new ac filter. When I checked the filter in the glove box, it was full of dirt and leaves. I'm calling the General Manager tomorrow. My questions:

What is the typical charge for a 20K service?
Should the dealer ever use non-synth oil?

This was Sheehy Lexus in Annapolis MD.

So what did they charge you for? I would insist on them changing the oil again to the Toyota 0w-20 synthetic (which is what should have been used). Do yourself a favor and find a different stealer and know what they are doing and using before they touch your vehicle. After the freeb oil change I will do all the service myself, I don't want anyone touching my vehicle (unless it is warranty work).

Don't go to anyone else besides Brandon in service. He is a friend of mine and is a major car guy (has a nice turbo NSX) and he will take care of you with no bs. He is extremely knowledgeable about cars and all around good guy. Before he worked there I had a couple issues with another service advisor who was dishonest about what needed to be done.

I believe that the first batch of GX 460's used regular oil. Perhaps that's the reason they used regular oil in yours.

I bought mine in April and they had a supplement info regarding the oil.

No, all GX 460's used OW20 full snythetic. The first ones were to have oil changed every 5,000 miles and Lexus changed it to 10,000 miles. I would still have my oil changed once a year or every 5000 miles with full synthetic OW20. I would take it back and have them change your oil with 0W20. I don't know what they charged you for, but I tell them what I want done when I take my vehicles in for service. A lot of what they recommend is a waste of money and a way for the service writer and the mechanics to make a hefty commission.

I had it changed to 0W20 synthetic the next day, same dealer, no charge. Unfortunately, that experience drove me away from that service dept.

Good thing you found out about their quality of service by an oil change!
