Thanks! I also added some Xpel clear protection film under the fairing trim just to prevent any rubbing. After getting everything dialed in, it really is a great rack. Looks perfect on the GX, IMHO.

Edit: When I installed, I put all the cross members on when still on the ground, but didn't fully tighten so I had some room to adjust if it wasn't straight when we lifted it on top. It was easier to do it on the ground purely because it was more accessible. Other than that it was a fairly straightforward install.

I love the thing if for looks alone.
Good suggestion on the 3M strip. Did you get the wind strip as well? I thought it would be sufficient in protecting the paint but may have to circle back to copy what you did.

r2m, just talked with Tim today. Pulled the trigger on a Gamiviti rack. I think I have the bought the same rack you did! 7 week turnaround.

Yea, he's not quick, but it is a very quality product, he's easy to work with and IMHO it think the best looking rack if one wants a more safari looking style.
Also, it is among the lowest profile racks so I can get into more parking garages than with other racks. My rig with suspension, tires and rack is 7'-2" (84").

Here is the film I used. I have some 3M Scotchgaurd as well, but the Xpel felt a bit thicker. I also liked that this was cut to 2.75" wide, which is a perfect width, IMHO. It also seems a bit stickier than 3M, so if you use it, make sure you use lots of soapy water so you can move it in place before squeegeeing the water out.

I also just got back from a 500 mile interstate roadtrip w/ the rack and I don;t personally feel it is any louder than stock. Maybe in high crosswinds, you hear it a bit more, but nothing crazy. I'm super happy with the Prinsu.

Agreed on all points, according to my research and your insight. I am sure I will love it.

I used the weather strip too, but for such a small cost and effort I went ahead and did the 3M as well. There is definitely more wind noise with the sunshade open, but not bad.

For sure, I would have done the same if I had thought about it.

Default Full length roof racks

I was wondering how many here have full length roof racks and which ones have you decided to go with. I am planning on getting a roof rack and was wondering about experiences you have. Thanks.

I have a Prinsu and I love it. Once I got everything dialed in with the fairing position and trim, it has been extremely quiet with no vibration or anything. I'd buy one again without hesitation. I did make 2 spacers for under the center mounts to sleep better at night, but you could easily bolt it down as-is or use a couple washers. Hard to explain without actually having the rack in front of you. It also didn't hurt that it was in-stock with no 1-2 month wait time like some other manufacturers.

I had a Front Runner Slimline installed on mine. I liked the rack, but recently installed a hard shell roof top tent that took up the entire roof rack space. So this past weekend I've removed the rack and installed Rhino Rack cross bars instead. The main reason I did this was to save weight, I should save about 80-100lbs by swapping them out. There was very little wind noise with the sunroof closed with the Front Runner. I liked the modular system and the amount of accessories that they have as well.

I did not realize the roof rack is that heavy. I am going to install sliders soon and that is already 100lbs. I would hate to add 100lbs to the top making it more top heavy.

Sorry, my numbers were a bit off. The front runner roof rack by itself is 71lbs installed (I was using shipped weight for the rack at 80lbs). I also had the quick release mounts and the hard shell support channels that were about 20-30 lbs together. The rhino rack cross bars are about 15-20 lbs. So I'd be saving about 70-85lbs.

FWIW, shipping weight on the Prinsu was 57lbs. I figure actual weight is closer to 50lbs.

good looking trucks. We go skiing once a year and I think having the rack would allow me to put the gears on top to get some interior room for the kids.
