so I took the car to Dallas TX, - kids spring break. Stopped at smokey mountains; and then to TX. Have put about 1800 miles for far. Still here I come back next week.
The cargo box was pretty much full and quite honestly I won't have able to the GX with out the cargo box. I have 3 kids and stuff adds up.. With the stock bars+thule motion rack I would hear creaking sounds; the inno setup its nice and quiet. I would say with the box attached there has been a little increased in sound but closing the cover for the sunroof I don't hear much. So far I am pretty happy with the setup.

I saw Yakima has the Locking EZ Riders for flush rails. Many Subaru, Audi, and other with
flush rails similar to the GX used these with good results. They are discontinued but you can still find them for cheap on eBay.

Anyone know if these will fit our rails? If so, which crossbars do they fit?
I haven’t seen any GX owners installed this yet. If you do get them to try, you’d need 58” round bars.
I have a couple of 48” bars laying around at home and may give this a try.
for those of you with the Front Runner rack
has anyone tried their wind fairings? I did not even know these existed until today and wondering if they help with wind noise.
I'm trying to decide if I want the OEM bars with a basket or go with the roof rack and replace the rails. I would kind of prefer the option to remove the basket when I don't need it and I don't care for the channels where the OEM rails go being "open" after removing them and putting a roof rack on. I do like the looks of the Prinsu rack but that would never get taken off. I'd also like to not lose mpg or hear any whistling up there when I don't need to use it.
I need some option up there for camping trips. The price difference isn't that much between the Prinsu rack or the Cross bars, Thule basket, and extension.

I'm intrigued by these, have never seen them before. The Railgrabs were not a good solution in my experience.

This maybe a long shot, but I found a set of roof bars for a Highlander locally. They seem to be slightly taller than the GX OEM set, which is what I'm looking for.
From reading the description and seeing photos, they don't work like the OEM GX style (with a hook) but rather by removing the 4 small tabs and bolting them in the nut below. See attached photo for illustration. Also See the Highlander bars installation instructions below for reference.
The million dollar question is, will they fit a GX? Does the spacing end-to-end work for the GX as well as for the Highlander. I am wondering if anyone owns a Highlander can kindly measure the distance between the two recesses across the roof and let us know.
The Highlander bars seem to be more widely available and less expensive than OEM GX.

Thanks..
Did you get a chance to test fit those Highlander crossbars?
