I think I'll do a Blackstone oil test in February... I'd like to have one under the belt before my factory powertrain warranty expires in early May. I also want to pull the spark plug coils to ensure I don't have any leaks there.
There's an existing Blackstone thread here in this sub, so when you get your results post them there for comparisons. The OEM Toyota 0w20 didn't fair too well in my 10k test, so it will be interesting to see how others do with Toyota oil and/or other brand oils and 10k mile intervals.
replaced the plastic filter cover with a metal cover

I'll probably add a Fumoto drain valve as well. The ones with nipple are nice since you can drain right into the transport container.
Also found one missing bolt and one broken one on the skid plate so ordered two of them off of eBay. Looks to be a standard OEM Toyota part.
I thought I was going to have to tap the broken one out but fortunately was able to just screw it all the way through to the other side.
EDIT: I'll use a crowfoot wrench to apply the 30 ft-lb torque on the Fumoto
Hello, I have replaced the plastic filter cover on mine because the Lexus dealer tightened the plastic cover so tight that it had to be destroyed to get it off. (There are many youtube videos about the overtightening of Toyota/Lexus oil filter covers. The metal cover is much better. Just don't overtighten your cover; whether it is plastic OR metal.L
I did the 1st oil change on the '15 GX (@26122 miles) this last weekend. Thanks to the OP's pics it is not too bad. Took about 45-60 minutes for the first time, next time it will be 30 minutes job.
Total cost: $55 (10 qt of Mobil1 0W-20) + $5 filter from Lexus = $60 and no wait time at the dealer. Last time Lexus charged me $131.xx for the same service.
Satisfaction: Priceless.
Holy schnikes!! I'm @ the Lexus dealer for my 1st PAY oil change. 15k and the cost for that is $129! I didn't know this engine' are automatically with synthetic oil.
never again. I will be doing it from now on.
Yup. The oil itself (8.2 qts) will run you $50-60. And Lexus doesn't make it easy to get to the oil filter, so there's more labor then the average Toyota.
I went to Toyota dealer for an oil change and it was $69. The service manager had to confirm with the tech that they could work on the Lexus because he've never seen anyone brought a Lexus to Toyota dealer for oil change before as there's a Lexus dealer just a couple of blocks down. LOL...
Tecman, they advertised $69 synthetic oil change on most ads. Their regular oil was $29.99. I specifically asked the service advisor for synthetic and also remembered it had synthetic on the paper work too. It’s 8k now and I’m planning to change it this weekend.
