Toyota of north Miami had the plug and cap on amazon for $24 (OEM parts) but it looks like it’s out of stock. I ordered from them last week but It’s still in transit.
Hey guys I just recently did the first oil change on my new to me 2011 GX, i put 8 quarts of oil (manual says 8.2) and noticed that it's actually a little over the full dot on the dipstick? Any idea why that would happen? Will post pics of dipstick tomorrow.
Certain you are on flat ground checking oil or a incomplete drain from ground not being level? Just checking but vehicle has been run since change so oil filter got it’s share of oil?

Drive it around and recheck oil level on a different flat level surface. Make sure to wait about 3 minutes after shutting down the engine to check oil.

Thanks man I'll give it a try. My garage seems to be a flat surface that's where i always check the oil lol. Ill take it out and park it on the street and check it tomorrow. Just seems really weird to me.
My first experience at an oil change on my wife’s GX460 was this past Sunday.
Apparently, the fool idiot who did the last oil change at the Havoline station down the way from us must have used an impact on everything except the drain plug.
When I went to remove the front skid plate bolts, the three at the front from the bumper area were missing completely. One of the front two bolts broke off instantly at the head when I was trying to loosen it with a 3/8 standard ratchet, the other bolt was torqued in so hard and had a rounded off head so bad that my bolt extractor wouldn’t work, so I had to drill the head of the bolt off....
luckily, the rear two bolts weren’t too tight to remove (but were overtightened also) and they didn’t break.
The Plastic oil filter housing was overtorqued (of course) and I was able to get it off with a long 1/2 inch ratchet and a hammer.
I switched to the new OEM Toyota Aluminum oil filter housing and swapped the center tube out between them.
The oil was warm(probably 130 degrees still) and when I pulled the plug out, it jumped straight from my oil drain/hold bucket and over onto the concrete, just past the work blanket I had put down.... sigh.... 0W20 flows like water!!! It was literally like a fountain bouncing from one platform onto the driveway. I knew I had oil dry dust and discolored concrete in my near future.
may be a dumb question but the oil flow path is down thru the center of the filter and out thru the metal filter then thru the filter element and return to the pan?
Not the oil pan drain plug... I know that is 12X1.25, the aluminum oil filter housing drain is what I'm interested in... also interested in the oil flow path thru the filter element if anyone knows for sure. thank you
