I live in the Tampa area and in a Ford, and 2 Jeeps we get 2 years out of batteries before we have to replace them as well. I switched to a Northstar battery in my Jeep due to a winch. So far that battery is now 3 years old. It is a deep cycle AGM battery. I am thinking of putting on in the GX here soon

The lexus battery is supposedly a interstate battery... but it doesnt last long. Had to replace mine around the 2 year mark. Lexus replaced for free.. and then the new one went out in about a year and a half... didnt go back to get it replaced under warranty. It's just not a great battery. Not sure which interstate line they are rebranding and using

The original battery in my 2014 GX460 lasted 46 months (within the 4-year warranty period). Lexus roadside service arrived within 20 minutes after i called them, and replaced the battery free of charge. Big thanks to Sterling McCall Lexus of Houston.

and the replacement battery has 7 year warranty, with 2 year free replacement.

Love the self-install at the dealer story.
Mine went dead last year. Picked one up from Costco. Took me about 15 minutes to swap, and that included me cleaning and regreasing the connectors, etc.
Yeah the service advisor is a salesman. Plain and simple.

Just replaced mine today at the dealership for $150. Previous battery was installed in 2015. We'll see how long this one takes me.
I'll make a mental note about Costco Interstate batteries for ~$85.

Had a Duracell gold on my 2000 land cruiser in Seattle (not extreme temps). It lasted about 2-3 years and went without warning. Started in the morning, started in the afternoon after work, stopped to get gas and didn’t start back up again until boosted. I really wanted to like it but...

Have not paid for a battery from Lexus for about 19 years. I own a 99 Lexus GS400 (from almost new) and the battery dies/gets weak about every 22 months like clockwork. I usually bring the car in for a scheduled service and tell them to check the battery as it starts to take a second or two longer to crank after about 22 months. After they check the battery, a new one is replaced at no charge as it fails the CCA/capacity test. I feel the heat in Florida and the fact that I only drive 4 miles to work take a toll on the battery, not giving it enough time to fully charge back up. After a while, the capacity is lost in the battery from not being fully charged.
I have never had a problem with my Lexus dealer, the battery is replaced at no charge and no trouble. I also have all my service done at the dealer, unless I do it myself, and my service adviser knows I can turn a wrench. The service can be expensive, but the cost of my time is considerably more. Also, I get a nice new loaner car to drive around in for a few days, which is just enough time to realize that I really love my GS400, and the "new car urge" wears off really fast. My service adviser even put me in a GS-F for a loaner one time. I understand they are "salesmen", but he's got a family to feed too and I have never found him to be dishonest in any way. I also rarely need any service, as the GS400 is so reliable!!

Your batteries in the south really take a beating. I think the shortest term I ever got out of a battery was 4 years. I proactively swapped out the stock unit in my GX after I bought it and it was 4.5 years old and probably still had life in it.

Costco Insterstate batteries are pretty good. Most of my family's cars are using them and they seem to last 4-5 years. I just exchanged one for the Odyssey that is about 3.5 years on that 42-months warranty that isn't completely dead but kind felt very sluggish when starting cold. No question ask, just pay the differences between the new price.

Even parts stores will install simple stuff like batteries for free.

My battery just went bad today. I installed an Odyssey battery today. Make sure you spend the extra 4 bucks for the spacer. It is a shorter battery than stock. So far so good. $239 Autozone
