thanks
it really happens at all speeds and different rpms feel in underneath me sometimes in front and a lot in the rear more predominate at high speeds but happens at lower speeds also
it is an unbelievable shaking and vibrating ts rep says just road surface not so
I have had 2 gx's 1st gen road like glass perfect
I am not crazy there is a genuine problem here and there shoving it under rug
changed tires twice did not try changing wheels although they should be fine
the wheel picks up some of the vibration but is not in the steering wheel
please tell me I'm not crazy
toyota not doing anything and they didn't even put it on a hoist
escalated to executive offices
this car should not drive like this

It is a bumpy truck. Initially bothered me more than now. Maybe KDSS makes the truck stiffer.

Based on your description I don't think you have any issues. You have what we all experienced. What I have experienced was steering wheel vibrations between 60-70MPH which balancing wheel couldn't get rid off. Finally found one tire shop who was able to get it correct and also replaced couple tires which were not round (out of spec)

I have couple recommendations
- Play with tire pressure. 32PSI will give you a softer ride than 40 PSI
- Check if tires are round. I had couple tires that were contributing to vibrations. Location of local shops with the machine can be found at http://www.gsp9700.com/

Let us know what you found out and if got better

Default gx460 shaking

replaced tires with michelins ltx/ms2 from hps
not the tires
saw a specialist on wheels and suspension
seems to be a design flaw in suspension
it's just a constant shaking
not at just certain speeds
it does it at low speeds but the higher the speed the more prominent
want my old gx back
they really missed the boat on this car
as the suspension guy said this car should feel like you are sitting in
your living room with a steering wheel in front of you
that is how the last 2 felt
cars should get better not worse

Risa,

1) You said it occurs at any speed? Are you sure about that. Vibrations are hard to detect at 10mph.

2) If this specialist you saw: "saw a specialist on wheels and suspension
seems to be a design flaw in suspension". Why don't you give more specifics on this. And if this is true, why hasn't Lexus performed a recall. Wouldn't everyone on this forum complain about it also?

Perhaps you got a "lemon". Have you ever driven a truck before?

Default 2011 GX470 Suspension shaking on road

Hi Frank 69m
thanks for the response it is true hard to feel at 1omph
This is my 3rd GX had 05 and 08 they were absolutely perfect.
Have driven trucks of this sort my whole life. Before this lot's of jeeps which
did not compare, but not sure I would say that now based on what is
going on.
Awaiting answer from big guys.
The specialist I saw felt exactly what I was feeling, and felt possbly the dampers were changed but could be a suspension design flaw or who knows, but for this kind of money should not be feeling what I am feeling.

Risa,
according to your emotions (we can't call this differently) your TRUCK!!!! is under Toyota's specifications. I also made mistake and bought GX460 without extensive test driving, because I was under impression of friend's GX470. Our teeth were knocking when sitting on a rear seat especially, and our kid was vomiting. So, to correct my mistake, I sold GX 460 and bought 2011 Sienna. Much more utility for family / camping. I wouldn't use this truck off road anyway

Thanks Risa for your post. Only this version had problems? Lexus forums don't seem to report the same thing. Lucky for us.
(2 points for anyone that decodes)

Well, it creates some issues, as i do not want to drive or even ride in the truck. We had driven a couple of GX470's when car shopping and felt like it was a nice vehicle, but wanted a little more on the interior. Our original target was a nice used LX470 (Landcruiser/LX470 is my favorite vehicle of this type) but my wife loved the GX. It's her car, so I just deal with it, but I am very disappointed by the truck as a whole. The creaks that the passenger side door panel makes when you push it open (near the rear upper part) are totally unacceptable in new vehicle (all the GX's we drove did this) and way off base for a vehicle of this level. She likes the truck...still thinks it doesn't drive correctly, but at a loss as to what to do...I hate it and have no desire to have anything to do with it (it is very nice looking in Starfire Pearl, though and the interior looks very nice).

My GX had the same problem as well; I complained, and the mechanic said the creaks should go away after a while, since the door panels are made out of plastic nowadays. It's been a year, and the noises are indeed gone.

Good to know! I wish they had put another power outlet in the front part of the vehicle, too. Having to leave the slide open cover open is kind of dumb...lol.

Default 2010 gx 460

my gx 2010, has spent 2months out of 12 in and out of the dealership for front end shaking. Lexus should own up to this. Replaced tires, rims, rack and pinion, still shakes at 65.. Then when you rotate tires, still exists.

No solution

Does Risa have a 2010? Maybe it's just certain 2010?

And, why did Risa say GX470? 460?
