Both lexus locations couldn't get it right after multiple tries. Even the main services mgr was involved once and overlook the repair. Suppsoly test drove it after and it was good. I picked it up and it was not. That is why I am thinking it has to be something else no one can get it right. How difficult is to balance wheels (we didn't invent the wheel yesterday).

Do you also feel vibration in the floor boards under the pedals? If yes, it sounds like the same problem that the GX470 were experiencing. Lexus had a TSIB for it. Something to do with transfer case / transmission.

Don't feel any vibrations there. Mostly in the steering wheel and seats.

Quick update. We had very cold nights the last 3-4 days where temp dropped to 32-34 level. Suprisigly there were no vibration while driving in the morning. As soon as the weather warmed in the afternoon (55-65), the vibs are back. If it is still balance issue, I would expect vibs in the morning as well.

I have bought the truck in March and looking back now I have not noticed vibs in the truck until the weather got warmer. I don't know what maybe stretching due to weather in the car to cause it, but open to opinions/ideas.

Thanks! Will send this to the dealer and see if they are willing to try this before FTS gets there. I have been driving my truck with this for 3000 miles already and is getting on my nerve.

UPDATE

Corp rep who was on site got involved. They have made sure the balance is good and decided to do an adjustment to rack and pinion. Steering wheel is much tighter which feels very nice. Unfortunetely no improvment and slight vibs are still there. Got GM involved and the dealer are escalating higher through Lexus Corp for next steps.

When I had the oppoinmtnet I have mentioned to the dealer to replace rack and pinion based on feedback from here but they have mentioned that want to do the adjustment as in GX engine needs to be removed to change it.

Will keep you updated...

What you may have experienced is flat spots. It is common when the truck sits on parking lot for an extended time and may not been the same issue. My does it all the time at a specific speed. The warmer the weather the worse it gets based on my observation.
Current status: Corporate rep was not able to resolve the problem by adjusting rack and pinnion. I have escalated and now I have an oppointment with Corporate Service and Parts Manager who will be visiting my dealership on the 12/14. Will provide an update after on my next steps.

Thanks Richard! Lexus corp rep has pushed back on replacement when decided to adjust. He said that the replacement requires engine removal. After the adjustment I have went to the GM who personally helped me when I bought the last couple Lexuses including the GX. He escalated and now I will meet with the corp rep's manager on the 14th. For sure will keep everyone updated on this as I hope this will help other who may have the same problem.

Default VIbration when turning at low speed

I have a switchback in my driveway, which it pretty steep. I've noticed that when I'm turning right going uphill on that switchback, with some accelerator applied to get up the hill, I get a vibration through the steering column and floor. Not super-noticeable, but noticeable. I've also tried it on the flat. If I turn the steering wheel maybe a little more than halfway towards the "stop" at the very limit, and then accelerate a little bit, the vibration is there too.

Anyone else seen this? I don't think my old landcruiser or my current fj exhibit this vibration. Don't know if it would be originating from the transmission or cv joints. Doesn't seem completely right in an "off-road" designed vehicle.

UPDATE:

I have met with Corporate Service Manager yesterday from HQ. Unfortunetely they were not willing to do replacement of rack and pinnion and asked for a next oppointent in January when he can send a specialist.

On a good note, I have worked out a deal with the GM to do a trade for identical interrior/exterior/specs 2011. Will be closing the deal tomorrow as I have asked them to move tires from other GX (didn't want Bridgestone), move the hitch (new doens't have one) and Premium model side moldings I have installed from my to the new one.

Too bad I don't have $1500 certificate some got. I think you get it if your car had a recall, or something.

That sounds great. The 1500.00 was for the valve spring recall on my LS 460.
I hope you test drive the new vehicle before making the deal...

Good luck!
