Default Finally saw a 2014 GX at the local car show today

I went to the Central Florida International Auto Show today as I do every Thanksgiving morning. Dealers from all major car manufacturers pretty much bring in their 2014 models to show off. Lexus was there and I got a closer look at the GX. It was just a bare base model. I'll be honest, I still feel that the base GX should have been a 4Runner V8 Limited. What was surprising was that more people were checking it out more than the RX they had on display.

But the main shocker was the reps that Lexus sent to the show that was explaining each model there. I won't call them dealers because they seemed more knowledgeable about the model. But the Lexus rep that was explaining the GX to me was more knowledgeable than I can imagine. This guy knew that the GX was known worldwide as the Prado, and knew that some Prado models had diesels. He even mentioned the Toyota Harrier which is essentially the Lexus RX. I have to say if Lexus trained their dealers like these reps, life would be easier.

All in all the new GX is nice, But I'm still going for a used 2010-2013 with Crawl Control which is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Oh and this isn't me in the photo, I was just trying to show how people were interested in the model.

To me the 14 4Runner looks more luxurious inside and outside. Also I find the materials to be better. The GX V8 is a bit low on HP for a V8

It may not have been the Bare Base Model, due to the Wheels. The Base Model has the same wheels as the '10-'13 models, I believe.

Can't speak to the materials because I haven't sat in a 14 4Runner, and as you know I'm not thrilled with the materials in the GX. But in terms of styling I totally disagree. I think the 14 4 Runner is pretty hideous...especially the non-Limited trim.

One thing I do not love about some of the new Toyotas is the tiny little GPS screen...

The 4Runner is a dog with its V6 5 speed.

Correct, the base model does have the same wheels as the 2010-2013. Has to be a premium based on the wheels. The Luxury has a darker paint on the wheels. I've had mine chrome plated.

Oops, my mistake! All I know is the 3rd row seats had to be manually folded down.

The 3rd row is only power on the luxury model for 2014. I've never used mine on either my 2010 or 2014.

Don't be fooled by the 4Runner, the materials aren't even close.
