Yeah it takes a couple of gallons easily if you slow-fill after the first cutoff. Shouldn't be like this. I have read some Toyota guys saying never to top off your tank since you can mess up some emissions equipment. Who knows.

On the top of my wishlist for the next-gen GX, aside from android auto, is a larger gas tank.

Prado gets a 150L tank (39.6 gallons). Why don't we get that??

Maybe the Prado tank takes up the GX spare tire location?

You can take my spare and throw it away if that's the case

Nissan Patrol also gets a very large tank without having to mount the spare on the tailgate.

I run mine past 0 often, and nearly every time I fill up (I stop at first cutoff) it only takes between 19-20 gallons, and the dash reads a range of 289 miles or so. However, the last time I filled up I didn't pay attention to how much gas went in but I did notice the dash read a range of 316 miles. This is the first time in a year since I've owned the car that it has read over 300 miles. Must have been something different with the first cutoff.

I was told by my local lexus mechanic to stop filling after the first stop. I too have been getting a little over 19 gallons in the tank and I've been refilling with around 15 miles of cruising range. How much below 0 have you guys been running yours? Also is the tank really only 19.8 gallons? I swear I saw where it was 22 or 23.

You were probably driving pretty easily, highway miles etc before the fillup. If I have been doing a lot of stop-and-go with poor economy, the range will read lower after a fill. Mine routinely reads over 300 when I fill.

In my experience, anything you're adding after the initial cutoff isn't really recognized by the range-meter, and will serve to keep the range reading high for awhile before you burn through the excess.

It's not 19.8. It's 23.

I've had my GX about 2 months now, the fuel light seems to consistently come on with 3 gallons left in the tank for me. My 2000 Landcruiser 100 series fuel light would always indicated 5 gallons left and it had a 25 gallon tank. Basically they both mean 20 gallons have been burned. My cruising range usually runs out another 10-15 miles after the fuel light comes on. Not sure I have even filled up before the light comes on and I fill up twice a week so I can test this regularly.

The thing I like to do with a new vehicle is first flip to the back of the owners manual and note the tank size, then as soon as the light comes on, go fill up and remember the gallons it takes to fill up. Do it a couple more times and that should give you peace of mind for the life of the car.

I'd like to know if this is calibrated the same so if anyone does this, let me know if you get similar results.
