Default GX story time

I bought my GX used off of someones 2 year lease. A few months after driving it I got onto the highway and decided to punch it. I hit 110 mph for about 8 seconds and then backed it down. The next day I started noticing my rpm and mph gauges erratically jumping along with some other lights on the dash. I think hill assist, traction control and ABS. I drove it for several days to see if I could find a pattern and it seemed to be when accelerating from low speeds for the most part but then again it happened at higher speeds also. I started to get aggravated. There is a reason I bought the most reliable truck on the road. I started keeping my iphone in video mode with it pointed at the dash while driving so I could show the shop I use that this is happening. I went into the shop several days latter and they connected there computer to mine. I stood back while they did there thing. Finally they read the results and informed me of some past issues and was told the most recent problem was a loss of communication with my aftermarket device...Umm I am thinking what did I install? LEDs and a dash cam I wired into the overhead console weeks ago so not sure what you are talking about. The mechanic reached to my floorboard and handed me a blue device that was attached to my GX computer. I read the print on it “Allstate smart driver”... I guess I pissed it off No problems since removal for weeks now.

Holy crap are you serious!? That's insane. I didn't know these devices had any influence on the car. I thought they were just recorders.

Beware when you allow a company to install a device on your vehicle. The limits are up to them if you agree to the terms of the contract.

Great story and words of wisdom. I am an old retired guy but still have a lead foot from time to time. Just bought my new leftover 2013 last week. When I called to transfer my insurance over from my Sequoia, State Farm tried to talk me into one if those. I said I would think about it. Now I have thought about it and their answer will be "Oh Hell No!" LOL.
