I did call the dealership and was told they are redesigning it which I find crazy since it’s been around for 12 years.

In September Nissan also had issues with not being able to deliver hitches on their new Frontiers. I'm not sure if Nissan resolved the issue. I suspect it is an issue with sourcing the steel. If it was a safety issue I think Lexus would have advised those with the hitch to not use it until the problem is resolved.

Since it does not appear to be only Toyota/Lexus impacted, is there the possibility a certification requirement changed SAE, ISO, AMECA/VESC. A change to certification could be the delay while manufacturers redesign and wait for testing to meet standards. Just a thought

Got a call back today. Basically, it’s not available and no idea when it will be. She couldn’t give me a reason either.

Just traded my 2008 GX470 for a 2022 GX460 expecting the new model a Lexus tow hitch was available. No luck, dealer couldn’t give me any info if a hitch was available or when. In the mean time I installed a Curt hitch to hold me a over until Lexus gets a hitch. Contacted Lexus via email and they didn’t give me much help or hope that an OEM hitch would be available. How can they sell a vehicle with all the features for towing but can’t have a hitch available? I can’t believe that they can’t source a vendor that can build an OEM hitch to Lexus specs.

I ordered a hitch online from a seller that physically has them in stock. Even with the high shipping cost I figured I’m gonna pay for a Curt then swap out so it was a wash. Called yesterday to get the status on shipping, and the lady said they have 40 hitches they can’t even ship to customers because Lexus said not to. Makes me think it’s a safety thing. This is crazy.
