For the sake of change. Windows 7 was also good. 8 was complete and utter crap. 10 is better, but still not as good as 7.
It's all about cycle times nowadays. More content delivered quicker to market. Investors view it as more return on investment.
However, in this craze, everyone ignored quality.
GX and T4R are dinosaurs. They should not exist. Yet, for some reason (we all know!), there they are!
Toyota killed Supra, Celica, MR2. Celica was a great seller. Supra had a following. MR2 was just ugly. Didn't stop them from ending up on the chopping block.

I deal with enough tech in work & private life that the old school aspects of vehicle are refreshing. I'm glad it isn't bleeding edge. A fairly proven AT and lack of direct injection I find positive things.
Certainly there is still a market out there for simple, reliable, capable and comfortable with nice trimmings. Maybe dinosaurs.... but push the old BOF on something like towing and it will do it. On unibody... good luck with that.... you will possibly damage the vehicle.

I think it's inevitable that Lexus will convert the GX to a crossover. The entries from MB, Bimmer, Audi are selling like hot cakes! Lexus IS giving away this market to the Germans. We hope Lexus is working on a crossover GX that's more powerful, athletic, and 'less quirky'. We would be all over it!

Ugh another facelift.
Who am I kidding, I would buy a new Prado in a heartbeat.
Oh well.

After multiple digital leaks since May, the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is exposed in metal for the first time, courtesy autohome.com.cn.
The 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser features a more powerful design compared to the current model. Up front, the new headlamps ooze aggression and have LED lighting. The new radiator grille, built of five prominent vertical bars with double slats between them, packs into an angular chrome enclosure. Toyota has redesigned the bumper, fog lamps, lower grille and even gone as far as resculpting the bonnet.
At the rear, the facelifted Toyota Land Cruiser features tweaked tail lamps, repositioned fog lamps, restyled bumper and a revised tailgate design. The spare wheel cover is a carry over from the current model. Leaked images have already revealed the TRD accessories for the 2017 Land Cruiser Prado. Earlier images also showed the SUV’s refreshed interior with elements influenced by the Toyota Land Cruiser.
Toyota offers the Land Cruiser Prado with a selection of engines depending on the market. Petrol engines include 2TR-FE 2.7-litre four-cylinder, 7GR-FKS 3.5-litre V6 and 1GR-FE 4.0-litre V6 units. Diesel engines include 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre four-cylinder, 1KD-FTV 3.0-litre four-cylinder and 5L-E 3.0-litre four-cylinder units. It is unknown if Toyota plans additions or upgrades under the bonnet.
Featuring the Toyota Safety Sense kit, the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is locked for a September release in Japan. The Middle East is expected to receive the 2017 Toyota Prado by the year-end.
=============================TRD accessories for the 2017 Toyota Prado (facelift) surface
Reported to break cover on September 12, 2017.
An unofficial Twitter account dedicated to news about the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has uploaded images of the TRD pack front and rear bumpers for the upcoming 2017 Prado (facelift), which is reported to break cover in September 12, 2017.
Like most TRD bumpers offered for Toyota’s car range in Japan, it has sharp sculpted features and LED DRL strips, a front splitter, a sportier rear bumper with chrome elements and a chrome-finished tailpipe. Although the whole exterior was not revealed, it’s reported to get sleeker LED headlamps with a clean pair of DRLs flanking a wide hexagonal grille with bold vertical slats, and angular fog lamps.
Judging from reports and leaks, the 2017 Toyota Prado will have a revised centre console with a new vertical arrangement of buttons for the off-road settings, new HVAC controls, and an updated touchscreen infotainment system. The ladder-frame SUV will continue to be offered in 5-seat or 7-seat configurations, with no change in wheelbase.
The JDM-spec Prado is likely to continue with the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre petrol engine that produces 120 kW (163 PS) at 5,200 rpm and 246 Nm of torque, and the Toyota Fortuner’s 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine good for 130 kW (177 PS) and 450 Nm of torque. Exclusive to the Middle East is a range-topping 4.0L V6 engine producing 235 PS and 38.3 kg.m of peak torque.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor could unveil the new Prado at t
he Auto Expo 2018 in February. Like the current version, it will be imported as a CBU from Japan, as TKM is not targeting volumes but familiarised customers, expats or those who do not want a luxury brand.

I see numerous GXs on the road every single day. Why would they kill it? And why does someone think it's inevitable that it will become a crossover? Vehicles like this and Tahoes and Expeditions have a following of owners that don't want to sit lower. And they feel like truck based vehicles add a degree of safety and security.
