I'm an active member of the GS section and owner of one. LS500 being with 6 cylinder engine and sales are too low for GS aswell are one of the reasons for discontinuing it.

Out of curiosity a few days ago I submitted a question to Lexus support line asking when the 2018 GX brochure would be available along with general vehicle availability.

"The 2018 Lexus GX 460 includes just a handful of model year changes. The changes are so minimal in fact that from a consumer standpoint, or anyone wanting to upgrade their vehicle to a new Lexus GX for that matter, may not want to wait for 2018 to arrive late next month and rather take advantage of the new, aggressive incentives available right now on the 2017 GX.

2018 GX Changes:
  • Back up Camera guidelines redesigned
  • Premium Package (PM) now with Black or Sepia NuLuxe seating material
  • New for 2018, Premium Package with Ecru (PP) comes with Ecru Leather seating material
Basically, the Premium Package GX will only be available with Leather seating, if you get the Ecru interior (PP Package) and the backup camera will have different guiding grid lines. Right now, on the 2017 model year, you can get the Premium Package with either Sepia, Black or Ecru leather interior seating material since Leather interior seating is part of the 2017 Premium Package. This change for the 2018 model year can be viewed as a positive for those wanting a versatile, more light-weight seating material which will aid in better fuel economy, but it can also be viewed as a “step-back” for anyone that prefers true leather seats and darker interiors without having to move up to the luxury model.

As a personal fan of the NuLuxe interiors (yes, I truly prefer NuLuxe), this wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me but, for longtime Lexus GX owners, it may be a difficult change to accept – at first."

Default 2018 GX in PRODUCTION

The GX is not being discontinued and Lexus will start building the 2018 GX model this month! No plans for the GX to go away (at least not anytime soon). Now the GS is another story...

Last month, the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado’s exterior was exposed in live images from China. Now, more spy shots of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado have come online, one of which shows its interior, courtesy autohome.com.cn.

On the outside, the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features a comprehensively redesigned front. Its interior isn’t completely overhauled, but there are some notable changes from the current model. The new four-spoke steering wheel, which has a more modern design, is very similar to that of the Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Crown. The central air conditioning vents too look changed. The infotainment system is a new one, and the climate control system’s ***** are repositioned.

The fourth-gen Prado will receive a major safety upgrade with the second facelift. Toyota will equip it with the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of advanced safety features which including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is offered with a wide range of engine options globally, including 2TR-FE 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol, 7GR-FKS 3.5-litre V6 petrol and 1GR-FE 4.0-litre V6 petrol, 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel, 1KD-FTV 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel and 5L-E 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel. It’s unknown if Toyota plans to make any changes to these engines.

The 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will hit the Japanese market in September this year. Its Chinese launch should take place in October, as per local reports.

Just an '18 Prado article

http://performancedrive.com.au/2018-...rt-debut-1114/

The Frankfurt-bound 2018 Toyota LandCruiser Prado has been spotted again, confirming the new-look front end and similar rear design.

Toyota confirmed a couple of weeks ago that it will be unveiling the new model at the Frankfurt motor show this year, saying it will feature a “segment-unique body-on-frame construction”, unlike more and more rivals that are switching to a monocoque-style setup.

As far as we know the same powertrains will be carried across from the current model, including the still relatively new 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder that develops 130kW and 450Nm. The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V6, with 207kW, will probably carry over as well, although it might swap to the more efficient 3.5-litre which was recently revised to produce 218kW.

These examples here, spotted by Twitter user
, look like they are sitting in a holding yard of some sort ready to be shipped off to their respective markets. In Toyota fashion, the new model will probably hit the market very soon after its official public debut, taking place on September 12.

Aside from the new-look front end incorporating more advanced headlights and LEDs, the 2018 Prado is set to come with a vastly updated interior and in particular a smartened up dash fascia. We’ve seen leaked images showing a neater stack for the climate controls, and a more advanced touch-screen system with separate audio controls.

Also part of the refreshment is expected to be the introduction of advanced driving assistance safety technologies, like autonomous emergency braking, radar cruise control, and pedestrian detection. These features should help it retain its five-star ANCAP rating next year when the scoring criteria gets tightened up.

That blue exterior would be nice

The interior accent lighting is a great touch as well. Question is why has everything else been upgraded to LED except the rear license plate light????

The seats appear to be remain the same, new gen seats would be less prone to the crinkling on th side

I know this is a little off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread, but does the GX have similar chassis as the 4 runner? I read on another thread that a lift kit made for the 4 runner will work with the GX. Just want to be clear. Tia
